Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.

Romans 8:1-2 NIV

Through Jesus Christ we have been set free from the demands of the law.  The law reveals the righteousness of God and reveals man’s need of a savior.  Jesus said that He did not come to destroy the law, but to fulfill it.  Through faith in Christ we have received the Holy Spirit and the righteousness of Christ has been applied to our lives.

Condemnation only stands for those who have rejected Jesus Christ.  The only answer we have for sin is the precious blood of Jesus.  So to reject Jesus Christ is to reject the precious gift of salvation.  If someone rejects salvation the only option they are left with is condemnation.  This is why anyone who is in Christ is saved and anyone who rejects Jesus Christ is condemned.

And I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish

and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.”

John 10:28-30 NASB

It is God who has made the way of salvation possible.  We are saved by the grace of God and it is through placing our faith and trust in Jesus Christ that we are saved.  We are saved by the grace and mercy of God.  It is not by works or by our own efforts.

No one can snatch us out of the hand of Almighty God.  We are not able to lose our salvation.  Many fear that some how they can lose their salvation and it has caused many to go through countless seasons of darkness and depression.  But we are saved by the grace of God and we are kept by the grace of God.  It is the grace and power of God that sustains us.

This is why Jesus is our Lord and Savior.  He not only saved us when He went to the cross and died for our sins, but He saves us on a daily basis.  We are led and guided by the Holy Spirit and it is the Lord who the battle belongs too.  The enemy will try to heap condemnation upon us, but in Christ there is no condemnation.  Our right standing before God is not based upon performance, it is based upon our faith in Jesus Christ because our righteousness is based on Christ alone.

This is difficult for some to understand because our culture is a performance driven culture.  If you desire to accomplish anything in the world it is based upon performance.  But this is not the case with God’s kingdom.  God simply calls us to be faithful stewards of that which we have been entrusted.  He calls us to abide in Him each and every day.  Let us fix our hearts and minds upon Jesus and His love for us.  May we fall deeper in love with our Savior each and every day.

1 John 4:13-16: This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit

13 This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. 16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.  1 John 4:13-16

It is the witness of the Holy Spirit within us that tells us we are saved.  When we receive Jesus as Lord and Savior we are born again and we receive the Holy Spirit.  It is the Holy Spirit who leads and guides us into all truth.  It is the Holy Spirit who convicts us of sin.  It is the Holy Spirit who draws us near and transforms us from the inside out.

John was an eye witness of Jesus Christ.  He walked with Christ during His earthly ministry and John could testify that He has seen the Lord.  It is God the Father who has sent His Son Jesus to be Savior of the world.  God put in place the plan of salvation from the foundations of the world.  He knew that when He created Adam and Eve that they would choose to sin when given freewill.  It is because of His love for us that Jesus has chose to come and give His life for us.

If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God they are saved.  The Holy Spirit lives in them and they live in God.  When we come to Christ we are called to live in Him.  We are called to abide in Him.  Our lives are transformed daily.  Biblical Christianity is not living for the Lord once in a while.  Biblical Christianity is not living for God one day a week.  It is living daily for Him and surrendering our hearts and lives to His will.

As believers we rely on the love God has for us.  We don’t rely on our love for God.  We don’t rely on our own strength and power.  We actually die to ourselves and rely fully on the Lord.  He has called us to decrease that He may increase.  It happens on a daily basis one step at a time.  May we seek first His kingdom and His righteousness.  May we abide in Him and remove any sin or anything that would hinder our walk with Him.

I am the resurrection and the life

25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

27 “Yes, Lord,” she replied, “I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God,who is to come into the world.”  John 11:25-27

The way to salvation is through Jesus Christ alone.  He is the way, the truth, and the life.  He is the resurrection.  Those who place their faith and trust in Jesus Christ while on this earth will spend all eternity with Him in His kingdom.  Those who pass on from this earth will never taste the second death.

Many fear death and the reason Jesus came to the earth was to conquer sin and death.  He lived a life without sin and became the perfect sacrifice for all humanity.  The gift of salvation is a free gift and is available to all people.  Those who come to faith in Jesus Christ are drawn by the Holy Spirit and it is the conviction of the Holy Spirit that moves our hearts to the place of salvation.

Let us live each day for the glory of Jesus.  Let us use our lives to glorify and magnify His name.  Many in the world today want nothing to do with God and His ways, but let us be a vessel of His glory that He can use to impact this world for His kingdom.

1 Peter 1:23-25: but the word of the Lord endures forever

23 For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. 24 For,

“All people are like grass,
    and all their glory is like the flowers of the field;
the grass withers and the flowers fall,
25     but the word of the Lord endures forever.”  1 Peter 1:23-25

The word of the Lord endures forever.  It is the word of God that will stand the test of time.  There are many today who reject the truth of God’s word and reject the Lord for that matter.  In their pride and arrogance they see no need for a savior and reject the existence of God.  For believing in God they would be accountable for their lives and the way they live them, and many today believe that they are simply their own god.

But we who have come to faith in Jesus Christ have been saved by God’s grace.  We have been saved by the precious shed blood of Jesus.  The glory of this world and the glory of man will fade away.  This world will one day be destroyed and the Lord shall create a new Heaven and new Earth.  Those who see this world as their home and live for the pleasures of this world will perish with it.  They will spend eternity separated from God in the Lake of Fire will the pain and suffering will never end and will be far greater than any can imagine.

God has opened the door of salvation to all who would humble themselves before Jesus and receive what Jesus has accomplished.  It requires anyone who would follow Christ to make Him Lord and Savior and give their lives unto Him.  Understand the truth of God’s word is vital for us living and experiencing all that God has for us.  The greatest detriment to any believer is one who has a wrong understanding of God’s word and His will.  For rightly dividing the word of God is key to walking in the freedom and authority we have in Christ.

Isaiah 1:18: Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow

“Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.

Isaiah 1:18 NIV

Our sins are washed away when we place our faith and trust in Jesus Christ.  Our sins no longer remains because of His precious blood that was shed at Calvary.  Under the old covenant which was based upon the law the blood of bulls and goats could not atone for the sins of the people.  Day after day sacrifices needed to be made because the blood of animals could not fully atone for the sins of humanity.

But through Jesus Christ our sins have been atoned for.  Jesus has taken the penalty that we deserved and has offered us the gift of salvation.  Daily the gospel message goes forth into the earth and the Lord is continually knocking on the hearts of people.  He has given all people a freewill whether to choose to follow Him and make Him Lord and Savior, or choose to live this life for themselves and the selfish desires of  this world.

Eternal life is not based upon our works nor our performance.  It is based upon faith in the Son of God alone, Christ Jesus.  As we walk in authentic faith with the Lord we will follow the leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit in our lives which will produce the fruit of the Spirit and will accomplish the works that God created us for.  May our hearts daily be focused upon Jesus and what He has accomplished for us at Calvary.  May we simply use every day to glorify and magnify His awesome and mighty name.

Romans 5:15-17

15 But [j]the free gift is not like the transgression. For if by the transgression of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many. 16 The gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned; for on the one hand the judgment arose from one transgression [k]resulting in condemnation, but on the other hand the free gift arose from many transgressions [l]resulting in justification. 17 For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.  Romans 5:15-17

The results of Adam decision to sin and Jesus decision to go to the cross are drastically different.  Adam’s decision meant the entire human race was bound and enslaved by sin.  Jesus death on a cross meant that anyone who placed their faith and trust in Jesus Christ could be free.  Salvation is a gift from God based on His grace and His mercy.  This offer of salvation is open to all and the Lord knocks on the heart of every person.  Those who respond by their own freewill by placing their faith and trust in Jesus Christ become born again.

The actions of Adam brought sin into the human race and because of God’s holiness and righteousness He must deal with sin with judgment.  Those who refuse the precious gift that Jesus purchased at Calvary with His own life await the judgement and wrath of Almighty God.  But Jesus has made a way for people to be saved.  It is through the single death and resurrection of Jesus that all sin for all time was dealt with.  When we come to Christ there is nothing we have done that is greater than what Jesus has done upon and accomplished upon the cross.  Where sin abounds grace abounds even more.  God’s grace is greater than any wickedness that exist within the life of a person.

The result of Adam’s decision to sin brought both physical and spiritual death into the human race.  But in Jesus Christ we find life and we find it abundantly.  We will reign with Him for all eternity and we are called to reign now with Him in life as we face it each and every day.  We are called to be overcomers.  There is nothing we face that is greater than God’s grace or His strength.  Many times Satan will try to overwhelm us with doubt, fear, discouragement, and worry.  But when we understand where they come from and they are simply meant to strengthen us, we see the Lord’s hand in all things.

Often times when we face challenges on a daily basis we grow in our relationship with God.  As we mature we begin to see challenges and trials in the correct light.  God has so designed everything we face in our lives to refine and mature us.  This journey is about transformation and being transformed into the image of Jesus Christ.  Having a right understanding of God’s word is essential for transformation in the Lord.  We are transformed by the renewing of our minds.  May we understand the depths of all that Jesus truly accomplished at Calvary and understand in Him we are truly free.

Romans 5:6-11

For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will hardly die for a righteous man; [d]though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified [e]by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of Godthrough Him. 10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved [f]by His life. 11 And not only this, [g]but we also exult in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.  Romans 5:6-11

While we were still sinners or helpless Christ chose to die for us.  He made the choice to die for us not because He had to, but because of His love for us.  We have done nothing to earn salvation, but because of His love for us He chose to lay down His life.

People will rarely choose to die for a good and righteous person.  But Jesus chose to die for us who are born into sin and at our core are wicked in our own hearts.  It is only the blood of Jesus who can set us free from ourselves.  Humanity left to themselves will destroy themselves.  At our core exist selfishness and sinful desire and left to ourselves we will destroy ourselves.

We are justified by the blood of Jesus and it is the blood of Jesus which saves us from the wrath of God.  The wrath of God is poured out against the wickedness of humanity.  Those who choose to reject the precious blood of Jesus Christ only have the wrath of God to look forward to.  God is holy and righteous and He in His holiness and righteousness must deal rightly with wickedness and sin.  But He has made a way that anyone who would call upon the name of Jesus shall be saved from the wrath of Almighty God.

We have been reconciled through Christ and before we came to Christ we were enemies of God.  It is our sin that separates us from God and makes us an enemy to God.  There are many today who reject the precious blood of Jesus and they stand in opposition to God and His kingdom.  They believe they are simply living in this world for themselves and that they are the only thing that matters.  But what they fail to see and understand is that remaining in sin makes us an enemy to God and in time when it has reached its full the Lord shall pour out His wrath and judgment.

When we understand the reconciliation we have through Jesus Christ our only desire will be to praise and worship His holy name.  So many today call themselves Christians but are ignorant of who they are in Christ and what Christ has done for them.  This only comes through the diligent study of His word.  As we fellowship daily with the Lord we grow in Him and come to know Him in greater ways.  As we grow in Him we are transformed into the image of Christ.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Our bodies are physical temples of the Holy Spirit. We are called to glorify God in our bodies. Our physical bodies are not separate but part of who we are in Christ. The decisions we make on a daily basis should be impacted by this truth.

Sexual immorality should have no place in the life of any believer. If we are using our bodies for the pleasures and lusts of this world then we are not being obedient to the Lord or His commands.

Our culture glorifies and worships are the altar of sexual immorality. All forms of sexual immorality are embraced and worshipped by this world and its wicked ways. We are called to be set apart. We are called to be holy because He alone is holy. If today you find yourself involved in that which you should not be, repent of this wickedness and begin to pursue the Lord with your whole heart.

Revelation 2:1-7

“To the angel of the church of Ephesus write, ‘These things says He who holds the seven stars in His right hand, who walks in the midst of the seven golden lampstands: “I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars; and you have persevered and have patience, and have labored for My name’s sake and have not become weary. Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent. But this you have, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.”’ Revelation 2:1-7

This first is the seven messages is to the church in Ephesus. It is important to realize that these churches existed at this time but also speak to spiritual conditions that can exist in any church or an individual and it's important for use to study these seven messages and learn from them and be challenged by them. The reason many struggle is they are simply ignorant of God's word.

The one who holds the seven stars and walks in the midst of the seven lamp stands is Christ alone. This designates who is giving this message. It is also important to realize that five of the seven messages were rebukes. Many think Jesus is simply meek and mild but they fail to understand He is not only the lamb, He is also the lion. He is in the center of all that is taken place in the body of Christ. He is the foundation on which everything is built on.

Jesus begins His message to Ephesus highlighting all the good they are accomplishing as a church. It is important to recognize that before the Lord begins His rebuke that He begins by high lighting what they are doing correctly. The Lord does not ask us to be perfect, but He does call us to obedience. Obeying the leading of the Holy Spirit.

The issue that existed in the church in Ephesus is that they had left their first love. They were doing all these things outwardly that would seem were in obedience and according to the leading of the Lord. But their hearts were far from the Lord. We may honor God with our lips, but our hearts will never be hidden from Him.

The Lord calls them to repentance. To remember what they did at first and returned. This happens in the lives of many when they first come to Christ their hearts are fully given over to the Lord. But as time goes on they may drift and this is why we are commanded in scripture to endure and abide in Him. Because apart from Him we have nothing. The opportunity to repent is always before us. It simply means to turn from wickedness and sin, and to turn fully to the Lord. It requires that we change direction and begin pursuing Christ with our whole heart and being.

The Lord ends each of the seven messages with saying he who has ears to hear. He speaks of hearing and discerning with our spiritual ears. That there are many today who claim to be in Christ but do not have ears to hear. If we desire to have ears to hear it requires that we pursuit Him with our whole heart and become a person of His presence.

To Him who overcomes speaks of those who endure until the end. Throughout this life we will be tested and those who have true authentic faith will endure the test. But those who simply claim to follow Christ but their hearts are not His will not endure. It is not by accident we come to salvation but because of the powerful work of the Holy Spirit. The tree of life will be found in the new Heaven and the new Earth. Only those who are saved will partake of the tree of life. For the tree of life provides eternal life. This is why after Adam and Eve sinned they had to be removed from the Garden of Eden. For those who endure until the end and abide in Him, we will forever live in His kingdom ruling and reigning with Him. This life is but a breath and shadow compared to eternity.
