Proverbs 4:7-8

Wisdom is the principal thing;
Therefore get wisdom.
And in all your getting, get understanding.
Exalt her, and she will promote you;
She will bring you honor, when you embrace her.  Proverbs 4:7-8

Our desire should be wisdom and understanding from the Lord.  This comes through seeking the Lord and simply asking Him.  When the Lord came to Solomon, he told Solomon he could ask Him for anything.  But Solomon chose wisdom and because he chose wisdom, everything else was added to him.

Wisdom and understanding will aide us on a daily basis.  We are daily presented with decisions and when those decisions are made with the wisdom of God, we will do all things with the focus on the Lord and His kingdom.  Through the age of humanity the Lord has raised up and elevated His servants.

The purpose of our lives upon this earth is to bring glory and honor to the Lord.  When we bring glory and honor to the Lord we point people to Him.  This happens as we live each day walking in the wisdom and understanding of the Lord.  His wisdom and understanding fills our lives when the focus and priority of our lives is His word and prayer.  It is through simply seeking and drawing near that our lives are filled with His wisdom and understanding.

Proverbs 21:21

He who pursues righteousness and loyalty Finds life, righteousness and honor.

Proverbs 21:21 NASB

The Christian journey is a pursuit.  We are called to seek first God’s kingdom and His righteousness.  When you are pursuing something you pursue it with everything that is within us.  To many today simply treat their relationship with God as something very casual.  The only time they may spend in prayer and God’s word is when they attend church on Sunday.

But God desires something much deeper and greater.  He desires a daily relationship in which we share all things with Him.  He desires to teach us of His kingdom and who He is in all that we go through and experience.  There is true blessing that is found in pursuing the Lord and His kingdom.  Not only will we spend all eternity with the Lord in His kingdom, but while we are on this earth we will be filled with His perfect peace.  May we set aside every sin and idol that would hinder our walk and relationship with the Lord.

Proverbs 13:3

He who guards his mouth preserves his life,
But he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction.  Proverbs 13:3

It is vital that we guard our mouths.  Life and death is found in the power of the tongue.  It is amazing how destructive words can be when spoken with the wrong spirit and the wrong intent.  In all that we do should be done in love and according to the leading of the Holy Spirit.  This includes the very words we speak on a daily basis.

We are called to be vessels of God’s glory and representatives of God’s kingdom on this earth.  There is no greater witness to the power and the grace of God than the life we live and the words we speak.  It is impossible to claim to be a intimate follower of Jesus Christ if our words are filled with vulgar and disgusting language.

Walking with Christ intimately will impact every area of our lives.  This includes the very words we speak and the things we talk about.  Our conversation should reflect the character and nature of Christ.  We must remember that when God created all things He spoke it into existence.  It shows you the very power of words spoken.

Words have the power to bring life and they have the power to destroy.  May we do all things for the glory of God.  May our tongues come under the leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit.  May we desire to be one God can use on this earth to speak life into the lives of so many and see their lives resurrected for His glory.

Hear the instruction of thy father

My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother: For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.

Proverbs 1:8-9 KJV

To listen to the instruction of thy father and thy mother is to listen to wisdom.  Now it depends on the spiritual condition of one’s parents.  If we grow up in a family where our parents have no relationship with God then it is not going to be the voice of wisdom we are hearing.  But if our parents walk closely with the Lord, it will be wisdom that we are receiving.

The wisdom and instruction of the Lord will truly be ornaments of grace upon our heads.  It will lead and guide us on a daily basis.  Our Father in Heaven desires to lead and guide us in all that we do and simply calls us to walk in obedience.  Those who fail to follow the leading of the Lord simply invite destruction into our lives.  It is only through the Lord alone that we find the abundant life that Jesus spoke of.

A soft answer turns away wrath

A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.

Proverbs 15:1 NKJV

How are we to respond when people speak harshly to us and persecute us for the name of Christ?  We are called to respond in love.  We are not called to respond in anger or to use harsh words for those who would speak against us.  We live in a world of lost and broken people.  People are blinded by the lies and deceptions of Satan.  When we operate in the flesh we simply fuel the anger and hatred against us and it avails to nothing.

But when we respond in love by the leading of the Holy Spirit we make an impact for God’s kingdom.  People today are use to the coldness and lovelessness of most people.  Jesus said because of the increase of sin that the love of most would grow cold.  Sin continues to increase upon the earth and the hardness and bitterness of people continues to increase.  We are called to be a light in this dark hour.  We are called to be filled with the love of Christ and be led by the Holy Spirit in all things.  May we simply be the sons and daughters God has called us to be.

Proverbs 31:30

“Charm and grace are deceptive, and [superficial] beauty is vain, But a woman who fears the LORD [reverently worshiping, obeying, serving, and trusting Him with awe-filled respect], she shall be praised.”‭‭PROVERBS‬ ‭31:30‬ ‭AMP‬‬

We live in a world and culture in which women are given a message that if you desire to move forward and succeed then sex must be the focus. But in God’s kingdom it is the opposite. In God’s kingdom a woman who fears the Lord and honors Him with her life and body is highly honored.

What does this mean you may ask?  It means that in everything a woman does she does it to please the Lord. This includes everything from the way she dresses to the way she interacts with men. There are many women today who simply use their bodies to manipulate men and get what they want. This desire is driven by the sinful nature and by the lies and deception of Satan.

But in Christ a woman is a new creation. She is set free from the curse of sin and death. Her body and her life is a living sacrifice to the Lord and this truth will drive every decision she makes. If we believe we can claim to follow Christ but still live and pursue the world then we are sadly mistaken and deceived.

God created sex to be a beautiful thing shared between a husband and His wife. To be shared with a man and woman in the covenant of marriage. Satan and this world has so distorted God’s original design and today we live in a world in which people merely view sex as something to be done at any time and in any context.

When we live outside of the will of God and live for the desires of the flesh we bring destruction upon ourselves. This world will one day be destroyed and this life upon the earth is very short compared to eternity. May every women in the body of Christ understand her value in the eyes of her Heavenly Father. Desire to simply be a woman who fears the Lord and desires to honor Him with your life.

Proverbs 31:10, 27-28

An excellent woman [one who is spiritual, capable, intelligent, and virtuous], who is he who can find her? Her value is more precious than jewels and her worth is far above rubies or pearls. She looks well to how things go in her household, And does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed (happy, prosperous, to be admired); Her husband also, and he praises her, saying,

Proverbs 31:10, 27-28 AMP

A virtuous wife who serves the Lord with all her heart is one of the greatest gifts God can give a man.  A woman who supports her husband in prayer and encourages him when he faces trial and struggle is beyond value or measure.  In a marriage it is vital that the husband and wife pray for one another on a daily basis.

Marriage is a physical picture of what our spiritual relationship looks like between the body of Christ and the Lord.  We are called to be a virtuous bride whose sole purpose is to bring honor and glory unto the Lord.  We are called to pursue Him with our whole heart and set aside every idol and hindrance that would keep us from walking in all that God has for us.

To be the virtuous bride that God has called us to be requires us to pursue Him daily.  Our strength and power for walking in obedience and holiness does not reside within ourselves.  It is found in the power and leading of the Holy Spirit.  If we will but abide in Him we will walk in every plan and purpose He has for our lives.

Proverbs 27:17

17 Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.        Proverbs 27:17

We are called to sharpen one another.  We are called to challenge one another onto deeper faith and character in Christ.  If our lives are not challenging people to a deeper walk with Christ then we simply need to ask ourselves what are we truly living for.  If we are simply seeking the pleasures of this world and to be received by everyone and liked by everyone than we are simply wasting our time upon this earth.  The desires of this world are empty and in the end lead to destruction.  Being liked by everyone is a pointless exercise and is not biblical but is actually founded in our fleshly nature.  In the end Jesus was rejected by all, but He was faithful to the Father’s plan.  In this life if we truly follow Jesus Christ we will be rejected and we will be persecuted, but the pain and sorrow of this world is temporary compared to the glory of His kingdom.  Commit yourself to live daily for the Lord and be the living sacrifice He has called you to be.  The hour grows short for the body of Christ upon this earth.  May we be who the Lord has called us to be and spurn one another onto a deeper walk and intimacy with the Lord.

Proverbs 13:20

“He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed.”‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭13:20‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Those that we have in our inner circle is key to us walking in the plans and promises of God for us. If our most intimate friendships are with those who chase after the lust of this world it will impact our lives and pull us down.

But if our most intimate friendships and our inner circle is filled with those who pursue God with all their heart than it will be very beneficial to us. Many times we underestimate the impact that relationships have on our lives.

We are not superhuman and destructive relationships can destroy us. We need to be wise in who we have in our inner circle. Bad company corrupts good character. The life God has given us is a gift. Let us use wisdom with who we build relationships with.

This doesn’t mean we should lock ourselves away from the world and those who are lost. It simply means that in our inner circle we should surround ourselves with those who pursue the Lord with their whole heart. Every relationship we have will impact the whole of our lives.

Proverbs 22:6

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭22:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

So important to train a child up in the wisdom and knowledge of the Lord. The investment we make in a child concerning God’s word and prayer will have an eternal impact. Your child may be the next apostle Paul or Peter and their formative years as a child are vital to where they go and what they do throughout their lives.

When a child develops a love for the Lord and prayer early on they will draw near daily unto Him and will be used greatly to impact this world for God’s kingdom. May every parent have the attitude of Hannah who dedicated Samuel to the Lord. He became a great prophet of the Lord leading Israel. This began with his mother choosing to dedicate his life to the service of the Lord.

The prayers we pray over children will not return void. Children can be challenging at times but this is why we must raise them through the wisdom and leading of the Holy Spirit. Nothing we sow to the Spirit is ever done in vain. Be committed to dedicate your children to the Lord.
