1 John 4:13-16: This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit

13 This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. 16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.  1 John 4:13-16

It is the witness of the Holy Spirit within us that tells us we are saved.  When we receive Jesus as Lord and Savior we are born again and we receive the Holy Spirit.  It is the Holy Spirit who leads and guides us into all truth.  It is the Holy Spirit who convicts us of sin.  It is the Holy Spirit who draws us near and transforms us from the inside out.

John was an eye witness of Jesus Christ.  He walked with Christ during His earthly ministry and John could testify that He has seen the Lord.  It is God the Father who has sent His Son Jesus to be Savior of the world.  God put in place the plan of salvation from the foundations of the world.  He knew that when He created Adam and Eve that they would choose to sin when given freewill.  It is because of His love for us that Jesus has chose to come and give His life for us.

If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God they are saved.  The Holy Spirit lives in them and they live in God.  When we come to Christ we are called to live in Him.  We are called to abide in Him.  Our lives are transformed daily.  Biblical Christianity is not living for the Lord once in a while.  Biblical Christianity is not living for God one day a week.  It is living daily for Him and surrendering our hearts and lives to His will.

As believers we rely on the love God has for us.  We don’t rely on our love for God.  We don’t rely on our own strength and power.  We actually die to ourselves and rely fully on the Lord.  He has called us to decrease that He may increase.  It happens on a daily basis one step at a time.  May we seek first His kingdom and His righteousness.  May we abide in Him and remove any sin or anything that would hinder our walk with Him.

He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.

10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. 11 He came to His own,[c] and His own[d] did not receive Him. 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.  John 1:10-13

Even though all things were created through Jesus and He created all things, when He walked the earth the world did not know Him and the world rejected Him.  He even came to His own people Israel and because of the sin and pride of the religious leaders of the day they were unable to see the Messiah before them.  Instead of embracing and receiving Him, they screamed and demanded that He be crucified.  This was God’s plan from the beginning that He would be rejected and go to the cross.  But it is still incredible how blinded the people were to who Jesus truly was.

Those who do receive Jesus as Lord and Savior become children of God.  When we come to Christ and choose to follow Him with our whole heart and all of our lives, we are adopted into God’s family and will one day spend all eternity in His kingdom.  But those who reject Jesus Christ will spend all eternity separated from God.  Without Jesus there is no answer for the sin that covers our lives.  It is only the precious blood of Jesus that was shed that washes away and atones for our sin.

When we come to Christ we are born again.  This is not according to the plan and will of the flesh, it is according to the purposes of God.  Those who come to Christ are saved by the grace and mercy of Almighty God.  He choose us before the foundations of the world and when we come to understand the depth of His love for us and His grace and mercy, we desire simply to use our lives to glorify and honor His holy and precious name.  Let us not waste our lives on vain pursuits that have no eternal value.  May everything we do simply be an act of worship unto the Lord.  He is returning soon for His bride.  May we be found prepared and ready and be busy with the work of the Father’s kingdom.

For God so loved the world

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.  John 3:16-21

God in His grace and mercy has sent His son Jesus to die for our sins.  None of us deserved salvation, but God in His love, grace, and mercy choose to make the way available for salvation.  It is through Christ that we are set free and this through faith alone.  It is through faith alone that we are born again and it is through faith alone that we receive all things from God.

Those who choose to reject Jesus Christ simply do so because they desire and love this world more than they love God and His ways.  God’s kingdom is opposite of this world and its ways.  God’s kingdom is based upon laying down one’s life and worshiping God alone.  This world is all about chasing after every selfish desire and worship one’s self.

Those who chase after this world and its desires fail to understand that they are enslaved to Satan and to the darkness.  They believe themselves to be free, but in fact they are simply in bondage to the desires of the sinful nature.  They believe they are experiencing all that life has to offer, but they fail to understand that true life is found in Jesus Christ.

To follow Jesus means that we are willing to humble ourselves before God and give our whole lives over to Him.  We are called to lay down everything at the foot of the cross and take up our cross and follow Him.  Following Jesus is not easy and at times is very difficult.  But through it all God has promised to give us the grace and strength we need for everything we will face.  He will always meet every need that we have.

As we grow in Him and the knowledge of His word, we become more and more like Him.  This is the transforming power of the Holy Spirit within us.  As our minds are transformed by God’s word our lives are transformed.  The fruit of the Holy Spirit is produced and we move from a place of immaturity to maturity in the Lord.

His will and desires for our lives become the driving force in our lives.  We no longer desire the darkness and the desires of the flesh, we desire all that God has for us and we walk according to the leading of the Holy Spirit.  We become a vessel of His light and His glory through which He accomplishes His plans and purposes on the earth.  May we draw near with our whole heart and simply abide in Him.

1 Corinthians 1:18: The message of the cross

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

1 Corinthians 1:18 NKJV

The foundation of Christianity is the message of the cross.  When we understand the finished work of Christ and all that Jesus has done for us, we walk in freedom and authority.  It is Jesus death and resurrection that has set us free from the bondage of sin and it is the death and resurrection of Jesus that has set us free from the demands of the law.

In Jesus Christ we are born again.  We are a new creation in Christ.  Our past no longer remains and our future is in the hands of the Lord.  His grace and His mercy covers every area of our lives.  His anointing is upon us in all that we do.  We have nothing to fear because the Good Shepherd goes before us and provides for every need.  The battle belongs unto Him and He has simply bid  us to draw near and seek Him with all our heart.  Focus your hearts not on your self or your circumstances, focus your heart instead upon the Lord and His love for you.
