Rejoice always, pray continually

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV

We are called to rejoice always, pray continually, and give thanks in all circumstances. This happens as we mature in Christ and come to understand that the Lord is in control of all things.

Circumstances can often discourage us, especially if things are not working out the way that we expect. This is simply how faith grows. As we experience tough challenging times the Lord is continually calling us to trust and seek Him. As we seek Him through every circumstance He will strengthen us and He will continue to grow and refine us.

God has a perfect will for our life and His ways are high and above our ways. It is not based upon our understanding but simply trusting the Lord each step of the way. The Lord will always provide and always lead. He has simply called us to follow and trust Him. He is our Good Shepherd. The safest place we can be is in the will of God. There is nothing more exciting upon the earth than abandoning ourselves to the plans and purposes of the Lord.

For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout

For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 NKJV

There is coming a day when the trump shall sound and the bride of Christ shall go home.  No man knows the day or hour this will happen.  It is utter foolishness to try and predict the day or time of the Lord’s return.  It simply causes confusion in the body of Christ.

The Lord has so designed things so the true believer will live every day as if the return of the Lord would be today.  Some will question what this looks like.  It simply looks like a believer abiding in the Lord through prayer and the study of His word.  As we abide in Him we simply grow in sensitivity to the Holy Spirit.  It is the Holy Spirit who leads and guides us into all truth.  He is the one who prepares our hearts for the Lord’s return.

There are some who claim to know the time of the Lord’s return.  Jesus told us the signs that would mark His return but the truth is that the apostle Paul believed the Lord return in His life time.  Every true believer throughout the church age has sensed the anticipation of the Lord’s return.  But we must live wisely during these days.

We must live as if the Lord will return today and plan as if we will be on the earth for a hundred years.  There is much the Lord desires to accomplish and there is a mighty harvest before us.  What the Lord desires in this hour is that we would simply be a house of prayer.  That we would walk in maturity and intimacy and have the fruit of the Holy Spirit growing in our lives.

As we seek Him daily He will open our eyes more and more to the truth and power of His kingdom.  In this hour the Lord is seeking faithful intercessors who will usher in His power and His glory into the earth.  As we pray and press on in prayer it open the door and creates an atmosphere in which the glory of the Lord will manifest in our midst.  Keep praying and press on.  Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and know that each day we have upon this earth is one day closer to the trumpet sounding our going home.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NKJV

We are called to rejoice always, to pray without ceasing, and in everything give thanks.  The reason these words and this command is so important is because in this life we will face trials and we will face discouragement.  There will be times when discouragement is so heavy and overwhelming that we will simply feel like giving up.

But giving up and throwing in the towel is not a choice.  We are called to press on and continue to pray without ceasing. Even in the trials and difficulties we face we are called to give thanks unto the Lord because everything we experience and go through as we follow Him has been designed by His hand.

The difficulties that we are facing are allowed by the Lord in our lives.  They are not meant to destroy us, they are meant to strengthen, refine, and grow us.  God desires for us to walk in mature and the fullness of His character.  Many Christians remain in the place of immaturity because they simply desire a very surface relationship with the Lord.

But the Lord is seeking a people who are hungry for Him and His kingdom.  He is seeking a people who will seek first His kingdom and His righteousness.  When the Lord becomes the priority of our lives then we will view every trial and challenge in the light of who He is and what He has done.  No matter what we face we will walk in victory.  The Lord will lead us and He will strengthen us.  May we have the mind of Christ and view every trial that we face simply as an opportunity to grow.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”‭‭I Thessalonians‬ ‭5:16-18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

We are called to pray without ceasing and to rejoice always. We cannot allow the discouragement of the enemy to keep us from the place of prayer. Every time we go to our Father in Heaven in prayer and we pray according to the Father’s will we are accomplishing the purposes of God’s kingdom.

The Lord calls us to pray for a reason. The purposes of God’s kingdom is accomplished through the prayers of His people. The enemy will lie to us and tel us our prayers are accomplishing nothing. But that is simply a lie and a deception.

We are also called to give thanks. The Lord has blessed us in so many ways and the greatest blessing of our lives is that He Himself went to the cross for us. We didn’t deserve it but He have His life for us. Keep praying and pressing in. Never give up in the place of prayer. God’s will is being accomplished and soon we shall go home.
