Revelation 11:1-6: And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.

Then I was given a reed like a measuring rod. And the angel stood,[a] saying, “Rise and measure the temple of God, the altar, and those who worship there. But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it, for it has been given to the Gentiles. And they will tread the holy city underfoot for forty-two months. And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.”

These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands standing before the God[b] of the earth. And if anyone wants to harm them, fire proceeds from their mouth and devours their enemies. And if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this manner. These have power to shut heaven, so that no rain falls in the days of their prophecy; and they have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to strike the earth with all plagues, as often as they desire.  Revelation 11:1-6

During the seven year tribulation the Lord shall raise up two witnesses upon the earth who shall prophesy for three and a half years.  They will be empowered by God to declare His message and if anyone tries to kill them, fire shall proceed from their mouths and consume them.

These two witness will move in supernatural power and resemble prophets of the Old Testament.  Many have tried to figure out the identity of these two witnesses.  We should never be dogmatic or argumentative about the identity of these witnesses, but as I have studied scripture I would like to share who I believe who these two witnesses are.

There are only two people in the biblical record who have never tasted death and both of them were mighty prophets of the Lord.  Their names are Enoch and Elijah.  Enoch was the seventh from Adam and walked on the earth for 300 years.  He was a prophet of the Lord and we know this because in Jude 14-15 it states: 14 Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men also, saying, “Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints, 15 to execute judgment on all, to convict all who are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.”

And in Hebrews 11:5 it states: By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, “and was not found, because God had taken him”; [a] for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God.  In the book of 1 Kings chapter 17 we are introduced to the prophet Elijah and in 2 Kings 2:1-18 we are given the account in which Elijah is taken to Heaven in the chariot of fire and never tasting death.

Both of these men never tasted death and were mighty prophets of the Lord.  Again their identity is not revealed in the book of Revelation but what we do know is that both of them will move in the power of God’s kingdom and will be used as God’s judgment upon the wickedness of humanity.

As we continue to move forward the earth continues to be filled with greater darkness.  We move closer and closer to the rapture of the church and once the bride of Christ has been removed the seven year tribulation will begin shortly afterward.  Let us be faithful witnesses on the earth at this time in history and simply follow the leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit.  May we be the sons and daughters who God has called us to be.

Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God

Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

Revelation 21: 2-4 NKJV

There will come a day when there shall be a new Heaven and a new Earth.  Currently we live during the church age and this age will come to an end when the trumpet sounds and the bride of Christ goes home to be with the Lord.  After the bride leaves the earth the seven year tribulation will begin once Israel and the anti-Christ have signed a seven year peace accord.

After the seven year tribulation the Lord Jesus shall return from Heaven with the armies of Heaven following Him and will establish His one thousand year reign upon the earth.  During the millennial reign upon the earth Satan will be bound in the abyss and at the end of the millennium will be released for a short period of time.  After Satan has finally been placed in the lake of fire and the white throne judgment had occurred the Lord will destroy the old Heaven and Old Earth and will create a new Heaven and New Earth.

When the New Heaven and New Earth have been created the Lord shall create a new Jerusalem and it is at this time that God the Father will live with men upon the earth.  There are so many wonderful things that await every person who places their faith and trust in Jesus Christ.  And even though on this earth at this present time we face different trials, nothing will compare with an eternity spent with the Lord in His kingdom.

Each day we must draw near and abide in Him.  As we draw near to the Lord and spend time in His presence He will strength us for the journey and will strengthen us for everything we will face.  Hold fast my friend if you feel like giving up today.  Understand that everything you are facing has been designed by the Lord to refine you and bring forth from you the character of Christ.

Revelation 10:1-7: I saw still another mighty angel coming down from heaven

I saw still another mighty angel coming down from heaven, clothed with a cloud. And a rainbow was on his head, his face was like the sun, and his feet like pillars of fire. He had a little book open in his hand. And he set his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land, and cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roars. When he cried out, seven thunders uttered their voices. Now when the seven thunders uttered their voices,[a] I was about to write; but I heard a voice from heaven saying to me,[b] “Seal up the things which the seven thunders uttered, and do not write them.”

The angel whom I saw standing on the sea and on the land raised up his hand[c] to heaven and swore by Him who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and the things that are in it, the earth and the things that are in it, and the sea and the things that are in it, that there should be delay no longer, but in the days of the sounding of the seventh angel, when he is about to sound, the mystery of God would be finished, as He declared to His servants the prophets.  Revelation 10:1-7

A mighty angel descends from Heaven down to the earth.  To understand the size of the angel that John sees it is able to place his foot upon the land and the sea.  This would be a massive angel in size and not only that but John states that when he declares it is like a lion roaring.

God accomplishes His plans and purposes using the angels in heaven.  The angels in Heaven are ministering spirits who hold incredible power.  Often times we get caught up in focusing on Satan and the demonic and forget that their are far more angels with us then demons against us.  Only a third of the angels in Heaven rebelled with Satan.  Not only do we have twice as many angels with us, but God Himself goes before us and every battle belongs unto Him.

John is not allowed to write down what the seven thunders utter and there are certain things in scripture that God has left a mystery for a reason.  We should never spend our time debating or trying to figure out things that God has left a mystery.

But what we know is that God’s will will be accomplished in the earth.  The mighty angel who descends from Heaven declares that when the seventh trumpet is sounded that the mystery of God would be accomplished.  As the body and bride of Christ we will not be on the earth during the tribulation period and the Lord has given us the book of Revelation as a stern warning of what is to come upon the earth.

There are some who fail to rightly divide the book of Revelation.  They truly believe the bride of Christ will experience the seven year tribulation period.  But this goes against God and His word and His character.  Throughout His word He has demonstrated that He has saved His people from judgment and the time of tribulation coming to the earth is a time of judgment.  When we study the book of Revelation it is important to understand where things take place on God’s prophetic calendar.

The judgments that take place in the book of Revelation will increase with intensity and destruction as they go forth.  Judgment is poured out due to the wickedness of humanity and their unwillingness to humble themselves before the grace and mercy of God.  God’s grace and mercy is extended to every heart and life and the sad reality is that many choose to reject the truth of Jesus Christ for the lies and deception of the enemy and this world.

We live in awesome times and should never fear the times that we live in.  We should be spending time daily in prayer and the study of God’s word.  Jesus Christ must be our obsession and our pursuit.  Those who simply praise God with their lips but fail to give Him their whole hearts will not stand in this final hour.  If we are to endure we must abandon ourselves to the Lord and remove every idol and hindrance.

Revelation 9:13-21: Then the sixth angel sounded: And I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God

13 Then the sixth angel sounded: And I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, 14 saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.” 15 So the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour and day and month and year, were released to kill a third of mankind. 16 Now the number of the army of the horsemen was two hundred million; I heard the number of them. 17 And thus I saw the horses in the vision: those who sat on them had breastplates of fiery red, hyacinth blue, and sulfur yellow; and the heads of the horses were like the heads of lions; and out of their mouths came fire, smoke, and brimstone. 18 By these three plagues a third of mankind was killed—by the fire and the smoke and the brimstone which came out of their mouths. 19 For their power[a] is in their mouth and in their tails; for their tails are like serpents, having heads; and with them they do harm.

20 But the rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk. 21 And they did not repent of their murders or their sorceries[b] or their sexual immorality or their thefts.  Revelation 9:13-21

The sixth trumpet is sounded and with it the four angels who have been bound at the great river the Euphrates for this hour in history are released.  These are demonic beings who will bring forth the 200 million horsemen army who shall go forth and kill a third of man kind that is upon the earth.

The description of the beast that are ridden by these horsemen are demonic in nature.  A person reading this account of the horsemen and the beast they ride would seem fanciful to someone who doesn’t know Christ or someone who lives in this day and age.  But the judgments during the seven year tribulation period will be terrible because of the wickedness of humanity.  They are not made up fairy tales or stories but will one day come true and God’s judgment will be poured out upon the earth.

Some will ask that if God is full of love, grace, and mercy than why does He bring judgment.  The Lord is also holy and righteous and He would be unrighteous if He did not pour out His judgment for the wickedness of humanity.  The severity and intensity of the judgments that are coming simply match the wickedness of humanity.

Daily as we look at the news and see what is happening around the world we see that wickedness and darkness are increasing.  As humanity opens their hearts more and more to the things of darkness they become desensitized by sin and it causes them to commit greater sin.

A person involved in great wickedness does not happen over night.  It is a progressive process in which along the way the person continually rejects the conviction and warning of the Holy Spirit.  Even those who are not in Christ have a conscience and as they reject all that is right and embrace that which is wicked their nature within them is changed and their hearts are hardened.

A person who follows Christ and has a heart that is sensitive for the Lord may read this account and wonder how could those on the earth refuse to repent.  The answer is that they will be so consumed with wickedness that it will have hardened their hearts and they will want nothing to do with God and His ways.

Every ounce of wickedness upon this earth is simply the result of humanity rejecting God and His ways and simply indulging in the things of sin.  Sin appeals to our fallen sinful nature and when we sin initially it feels good and seems satisfying.   But it carries with it a very great price.  Those who indulge in sin are hardened by it and if they fail to repent there comes a point when their heart has become hard and they will no longer turn to the Lord and His ways.

God has so designed all things that even the wicked works of the enemy and His schemes upon the earth are part of God’s sovereign will.  The Lord uses the wickedness of Satan to separate those who truly desire God from those who do not.  God never tempts anyone or does anything wicked, but He allows Satan limited room to operate.  A person’s actions will reveal the true condition of their heart.  There are some who claim to follow Christ, but their actions and their choices tell a much different story.

When we examine the book of Revelation it should sober us and develop within us not only a desire to live a life that is pleasing to the Lord, but a desire and passion to share the gospel where ever we are able to.  God has given us a picture of things that are coming to the earth.  It is a great blessing and simply by the grace and mercy of God to be a part of the bride of Christ.  For the bride shall be removed before the judgments of the Lord begins upon the earth.

Let us take every opportunity to advance God’s kingdom.  Let us be faithful people of prayer and seek the face of God throughout the day.  It is through faithful unceasing prayer that the purposes of God are fulfilled and poured out upon the earth.  The hour of the church age is drawing to a close and the time of tribulation is coming soon.  May we diligently seek Him daily and continue to do all things to glorify and magnify the name of Jesus Christ.

Revelation 9:1-11: The fifth angel sounded his trumpet

The fifth angel sounded his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from the sky to the earth. The star was given the key to the shaft of the Abyss. When he opened the Abyss, smoke rose from it like the smoke from a gigantic furnace. The sun and sky were darkened by the smoke from the Abyss. And out of the smoke locusts came down on the earth and were given power like that of scorpions of the earth. They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree, but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads. They were not allowed to kill them but only to torture them for five months. And the agony they suffered was like that of the sting of a scorpion when it strikes.During those days people will seek death but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them.

The locusts looked like horses prepared for battle. On their heads they wore something like crowns of gold, and their faces resembled human faces. Their hair was like women’s hair, and their teeth were like lions’ teeth. They had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the thundering of many horses and chariots rushing into battle. 10 They had tails with stingers, like scorpions, and in their tails they had power to torment people for five months. 11 They had as king over them the angel of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon and in Greek is Apollyon (that is, Destroyer).  Revelation 9:1-11

When the fifth angel blows the trumpet an angel is given the key to the abyss.  Out of the abyss flies what looks like locust but their sole purpose is to torment those who do not have the seal of God.  They will seek death as they are stung by these demonic locust but they will not be allowed to die.

We must remember when examining the 21 judgments found in the book of Revelation that they take place during the seven year tribulation that is explained in the book of Daniel.  Those who are part of the bride of Christ now who have given their whole hearts to Jesus Christ will not be on the earth during the time of these twenty one judgments.  It is our calling now to plant seeds and faithfully pray each day that hearts would be softened and opened to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The judgments coming upon the earth are terrifying and they are coming because of the wickedness of man.  As we look around the world today we can see the wickedness of man but during this time of the church upon the earth it is restrained.  But there is coming a day when the restrainer will be moved out of the way and the lawlessness will rule the earth.

There is a might harvest before us and the judgments we read of found in the book of Revelation should drive us to share the gospel with those around us.  Where ever we find ourselves in the world is our mission field.  We don’t need the Lord to send us anywhere because He has planted us where we are called to be.  Every person that lives around us is our mission field and we must follow the leading of the Holy Spirit as it pertains to prayer and sharing the gospel.  There are multiple ways to share the gospel, let us be faithful as the Holy Spirit leads.

Revelation 8:6-13: Then the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared to sound them

Then the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared to sound them.

The first angel sounded his trumpet, and there came hail and firemixed with blood, and it was hurled down on the earth. A third of the earth was burned up, a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up.

The second angel sounded his trumpet, and something like a huge mountain, all ablaze, was thrown into the sea. A third of the sea turned into blood, a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.

10 The third angel sounded his trumpet, and a great star, blazing like a torch, fell from the sky on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water— 11 the name of the star is Wormwood.[a] A third of the waters turned bitter, and many people died from the waters that had become bitter.

12 The fourth angel sounded his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them turned dark. A third of the day was without light, and also a third of the night.

13 As I watched, I heard an eagle that was flying in midair call out in a loud voice: “Woe! Woe! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the trumpet blasts about to be sounded by the other three angels!”  Revelation 8:6-13

With the breaking of the seventh seal it ushers in the seven trumpet judgments.  The judgments poured out in Revelation will take place during the seven year tribulation and will increase in intensity.  During the seven seals only a quarter of things were destroyed.  But with the blowing of the trumpets a third of all things are destroyed and impacted by the judgment of God.

We need to understand that the seven year tribulation that is coming is a time of God’s judgment and wrath for the wickedness of humanity.  But whats incredible about the first four trumpet judgments is that the eagle that flies in the air says that the next judgments coming are far worse.

The reality is that God has given us His word and has told us what is coming.  It is our responsibility to heed His word, pray daily according to His will and the leading of the Holy Spirit, and share the gospel as we have opportunity.  When you take time to study the book of Revelation it changes the way you walk with Christ.  You understand the seriousness of all things and how close we are to the soon return of the Lord.

Let us not sleep and slumber in this hour but let us declare His word without compromise.  A mighty harvest stands before us and may we be faithful to hold fast to the truth of God’s word and be a people of prayer.  God has called us to be a house of prayer and it is when we become a people of prayer that we will see His glory and His power manifested in our midst.  Great days lie ahead.

Revelation 8:1-5: When the Lamb broke the seventh seal

When the Lamb broke the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and seven trumpets were given to them.

Another angel came and stood at the altar, holding a golden censer; and much incense was given to him, so that he might [a]add it to the prayers of all the [b]saints on the golden altar which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, [c]with the prayers of the [d]saints, went up before God out of the angel’s hand. Then the angel [e]took the censer and filled it with the fire of the altar, and threw it to the earth; and there followed peals of thunder and sounds and flashes of lightning and an earthquake.  Revelation 8:1-5 NASB

When the seventh seal is broken by Jesus Christ it ushers in the seven trumpet judgments which are the next seven set of judgments listed in the book of Revelation.  There are twenty-one judgments listed in the book of Revelation: seven seals, seven trumpets, and seven bowls.  All of these judgments will be poured out during the seven year tribulation when the bride of Christ has been removed from the earth.

What is incredible about this passage is how the prayers of the saints impact what takes place upon the earth.  Often times we fail to understand how powerful our prayers actually are.  When we are covered by the blood of Jesus and are sons and daughters of God our prayers carry incredible authority because they carry the authority of Jesus.  The authority we have is not our own but has been given to us by Jesus Christ.

Jesus demonstrated His authority on the cross when He died and rose again and overcame sin and death.  Because of Jesus every person who places their faith and trust in Jesus becomes a child of God.  Because of this we have authority and that authority has been given to us by Jesus Himself.

We are simply called to follow the leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit.  It is the Holy Spirit who will lead us in the place of prayer and the only way we grow in prayer is by simply praying.  When we begin to dedicate our lives to the place of prayer the Lord begins to reveal to our hearts different areas He has called us to pray into.

God uses us upon this earth to accomplish His plans and purposes through.  We are the temple of the Holy Spirit and the Lord uses our mouths to declare His  will in the place of prayer.  Though the world around us continues to grow darker and more wicked by the day, the Lord desires to still move greatly in our midst and is seeking those who would be faithful in the place of prayer.

Instead of focusing on what the enemy is doing and complaining about it, we need to focus our hearts and eyes upon Jesus and pray forth and intercede into the areas the Lord is calling us to pray into.  Each and everyone of us has a specific prayer assignment based upon the calling and anointing on our lives.  As the bride and body of Christ we are God’s family and His team.  Each of us has a job and a role to play.  Let us be faithful in this hour as we continue to move closer each day to the return of Jesus for His bride and the last trumpet call.
