Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Yours is the dominion, O LORD, and You exalt Yourself as head over all. – 1 Chronicles 29:11 NASB
God is the only one who deserves to be worshiped. So many times people in this world spend their lives worshiping celebrities, people in power, and even those in ministry. But when we examine God’s word and take time to meditate upon the greatness of God we see that He alone deserves our worship.
Satan’s greatest mistakes was in his pride he believed he deserved to be worship. He allowed pride to fill his heart and his eyes to become focused on himself. Today he still tries to steal the worship only God deserves. It is when our worship is given to God alone that we truly experience all that God has for us. And worship is not merely the songs we sing it is the way we live our lives. The more we come to know the Lord and grow in Him, the more He simply becomes our obsessions and our pursuit.
10 David praised the Lord in the presence of the whole assembly, saying,
“Praise be to you, Lord,
the God of our father Israel,
from everlasting to everlasting.
11 Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power
and the glory and the majesty and the splendor,
for everything in heaven and earth is yours.
Yours, Lord, is the kingdom;
you are exalted as head over all.
12 Wealth and honor come from you;
you are the ruler of all things.
In your hands are strength and power
to exalt and give strength to all.
13 Now, our God, we give you thanks,
and praise your glorious name. 1 Chronicles 29:10-13
God holds all things in His hands. All we need is found in Him. As we grow in Him we come to understand how truly awesome God is. Satan will lie to us and tell us someone how God has forgotten us or somehow the Lord will not fulfill His plans and purposes in our lives based on our circumstances.
But we must remember the one we serve. With Him all things are possible. There is nothing or no one greater than the God we serve. King David understood this because he knew that every victory he achieved in his life was because of the work of the Lord in His life. When David went into battle he would seek the Lord and the Lord would answer.
The only time Israel faced defeat throughout their history was due to walking in disobedience. God made it very clear to them that blessing was found in obedience while curses were found for those who continued in rebellion.
Our God is a loving Father and when we are involved in things and doing things we shouldn’t be, He will discipline us. Every parent who truly loves their child will use discipline not to simply punish, but to use discipline to teach. God uses discipline in our lives to allow us to experience at times the reckless decisions we make with the hope that we will learn from them and continue to grow in maturity.
Maturity in Christ happens one step at a time. It is a progressive process. Mistakes and shortcomings are part of the growth process. The level of patience and kindness our Father has for us is far greater than we will understand. But let us focus our hearts upon Him and His kingdom. Let us learn of His word and come to know how truly awesome the God we serve is. With Him nothing is impossible. No matter where we are today the Lord can redeem and restore any situation.
Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, The power and the glory, The victory and the majesty; For all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours; Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, And You are exalted as head over all.
1 Chronicles 29:11 NKJV
The God we serve is a mighty God. All glory and honor belong unto Him. He has saved us by His grace and His mercy. He leads us to victory in all things and He holds us in the palm of His hand. He provides for every need and we are never lacking.
Sometimes we can get caught up in fixing our eyes upon our circumstances and forget about how awesome the God we serve truly is. He has created all things by simply speaking all things into existence. This alone shows us that any circumstance in our lives can be changed by a single word from His mouth. But He uses the difficulties we face to shape and refine our character.
In our humanity we desire to be comfortable all the time. But for us to grow we must be challenged. It is when we are challenged that our faith grows and we grow in maturity. No matter how difficult the challenge we face, the God we serve is always greater. Jesus has overcome and therefore we have victory because Jesus has overcome. Let us fix our eyes upon Jesus and simply prepare our hearts and lives daily for the last trumpet call. There is coming a day when the trump shall sound and the bride of Christ shall go home to spend all eternity with our Lord in His kingdom.
“Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Yours is the dominion, O LORD, and You exalt Yourself as head over all.”1 Chronicles 29:11 NASB
All glory belongs unto God. He has created us to be in relationship with Him and to use our lives to glorify and honor Him.
Under the old covenant they had the temple in which the presence of God was in the Holy of Holies. But under the new covenant the Holy Spirit lives within us. Where ever we go we take the presence of God with us and impact the world around us.
