27 Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, 28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him. Hebrews 9:27-28
When Jesus came to earth the first time He came as a suffering servant with the purpose of laying down His life for humanity. The only way that we could be saved is that God Himself lay down our life for us because He alone is perfect. It would also require that God Himself because fully man because it is only through blood that forgiveness of sins can be found.
But there is a day coming in which the Lord shall return. This is our hope as believers on a daily basis. This life and journey with Christ is not an easy one. We are continually being refined and transformed into the image of Christ which requires that our flesh be crucified.
Many mock the soon return of the Lord and simply look at it as if it is only a fairy tale. But many will weep and mourn when He returns because they will see that He alone is truly the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. In His grace and mercy He has given people time to repent of their wickedness. But that time is drawing to a close. As believers we must examine our hearts daily and remove anything from our life that would hinder our relationship to Him.
