Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.
Deuteronomy 7:9 NIV
The Lord is faithful and keeps His covenant of love. There are times in our lives where we may feel or believe that God has forgotten us. We find ourselves in difficult circumstances and we cry out to the Lord time and again, but nothing seems to change. In these moments we may begin to feel bitterness towards the Lord. But we must guard our hearts because this is simply a tactic and scheme of the enemy.
God desires to deepen our walk with Him and continue to mature us. This often requires for the Lord to place us in a season of waiting. It is in the place of waiting that we must press into the Lord and meditate upon His word and His promises for us. The battle truly takes place in our minds and it is in our minds that the enemy tries to fill our thoughts with lies of doubt, fear, and worry. But every thought in our minds that is contradictory to God’s word is simply a lie of Satan.
The greatest thing we can do for ourselves and the greatest investment we can make is to be a diligent student of God’s word. To spend time daily in God’s word seeking His face. As we come to know and understand the depths of God’s word it will guard our hearts and minds from the lies of the enemy.
2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2
We are called to not conform to the pattern of this world. The world we live in is build upon the lies and deceptions of Satan. The culture we live in today becomes more anti-God by the moment. The spirit of the anti-Christ is continually working in the hearts and minds of people, hardening their hearts to the Lord and preparing them for the judgement and wrath of Almighty God.
But we who are in Christ are not called to be conformed to this world but to be transformed by the renewing of the mind. Our minds are renewed by the word of God. As we spend time in God’s word each day reading and meditating upon His word, our lives are transformed by the power and might of the Holy Spirit.
As our minds are transformed we will be able to test and approve what God’s will is. As we abide in the Lord we come to know Him in a more intimate way. We come to understand His heart and His plans and purposes. The more we draw near the more we come to know Him. But besides prayer, the word of God is the most powerful weapon we have on the earth today for advancing God’s kingdom. When God’s word is preached without compromise under the anointing of the Holy Spirit it has the ability to change and transform the hearts and lives of people.
