But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,
We are called to revere the Lord. That simply means that we are called to give Him all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength. He deserves our worship and we are called to worship Him with the way we live our lives. We are called to be living sacrifices unto the Lord.
We are called to always be prepared to give an answer. This is only possible as we abide in Him and spend time daily in God’s word and prayer. As we fellowship with the Lord and open our hearts to the fullness of the Holy Spirit we will be empowered to be a witness for the Lord. For it is the Holy Spirit who enables us to be a witness and gives us the words to say.
It is important to remember to do this with gentleness and respect. We are not called to berate people and beat them over the head with the bible. As the Holy Spirit gives us opportunity and prepares the hearts of people we must do all things in love. It is the kindness of God that leads people to repentance. It is the love of Christ that will be the ultimate witness in this hour of history.
