19 We love Him because He first loved us. 20 If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can[c] he love God whom he has not seen? 21 And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also. 1 John 4:19-21
Our love for God is because He simply first loved us. It would be impossible to love God if He first didn’t love us. We wouldn’t know what love truly is without knowing Jesus. As we abide in Him and grow in Him, we become more and more like Him. He simply is love and the more we become like Him, His love consumes our lives.
A person who claims to be a Christian but not love His fellow brother or sisters is a liar. It is impossible to claim to walk with Christ and not walk in love. When I say walk with Christ I don’t mean simply claiming to follow Christ. But you actually walk with the Lord on a daily basis in all things. He desires to teach us the depths of His kingdom in all that we do. But this only happens as we walk with Him each day.
The bottom line is we are called to love the Lord with all our heart and love our neighbor as our selves. We can’t claim to be in Christ and not walk in love. The love of God will impact every relationship we have. The love of God will impact every interaction we have on this earth. God is simply seeking those who would be vessels of His love.
