1 John 4:16b-18: God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them

God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. 17 This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. 18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.  1 John 4:16b-18

God is love.  Even though it is only three words it is a powerful statement and truth.  Everything God does is because of love.  The way He has so designed our lives is because of the love He has for us.  If we are to truly walk with Christ and live in Him then we must be people of love.  It is impossible to truly walk with Christ on a daily basis and not be filled with His love and be driven by His love.

We are called to be like Christ.  The Christian journey is one of being transformed into the image of Christ.  There are many who fear the judgement of God.  But those who walk with Christ on a daily basis have nothing to fear.  For in all that we do we will follow the leading of the Holy Spirit and be empowered by the Holy Spirit.

There is no fear in love.  When we walk with Christ daily and are filled with the love of Christ, fear has no place in our lives.  The reason we often succumb to fear is because we are trying to do things in our own strength and power.  But when we are empowered by the Holy Spirit and filled with the love of Christ we will do everything out of the compassion of Christ.  In everything Jesus did He was driven by compassion.  In every heart He touched and on His way to the cross He did all things in love.  It was love that held Him to the cross and it was love that led Him to lay down His life.  To put it simply Jesus is love.  May we abide in Him and become more and more like Him each day.
