1 John 3:1-3: Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us

Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God![a] Therefore the world does not know us,[b] because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.  1 John 3:1-3

It is by the grace and mercy of God that we are children of God.  Not everyone on the earth is a child of God.  Only those who have placed their faith and trust in Jesus Christ.  It is through the blood of Christ that our sins are forgiven and this enables us to be adopted into God’s family.  For when Adam and Eve sinned in the garden of Eden the human race was separated from Almighty God.  But through Jesus Christ and His shed blood we have been reconciled.

Those of the world who reject God are not part of His family and not part of His kingdom.  They seek after the darkness of this world and build their lives upon fulfilling the lust of the flesh.  They don’t understand the sons and daughters of God because their hearts are separated from the Almighty.

What we will be is not yet known until the Lord shall return.  When Jesus returns to the earth at the last trumpet and returns for His bride our lives and bodies will be changed instantly.  We will receive brand new, incorruptible bodies and we will go with Him to partake of the marriage supper of the Lamb.

Those whose hope is in Jesus Christ purify themselves because He is pure and He is righteous.  It is impossible to claim to know Christ and walk with Him and continue in unrighteousness.  For the conviction and leading of the Holy Spirit will not allow it.  We must prepare our hearts daily for the return of the Lord.  We must remove from our lives everything that would hinder our relationship with Him.  He must become the priority and focus of all that we do.  As we seek Him and abide in Him, we will become like Him in all things.
