1 John 2:15-16 Do not love the world

Do not love the world [of sin that opposes God and His precepts], nor the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust and sensual craving of the flesh and the lust and longing of the eyes and the boastful pride of life [pretentious confidence in one’s resources or in the stability of earthly things]—these do not come from the Father, but are from the world.

1 John 2:15-16

We are called not to love the world or the sin of the world system. When we come to Christ and begin to follow Jesus our citizenship is in Heaven. We are called to be set apart from this world. The world as we know it is built upon the lies and deceptions of Satan. Those who indulge in this world and the sin of the world will spend an eternity separated from God. If a person is a true child of God the world and its desires will have no place in their lives. They will see sin for what it truly is and will run from it. For when we open our hearts and lives to sin and wickedness we give Satan a foothold into our lives. When we understand that this world is not our home we will no longer pursue its desires. Some believers struggle because they are ignorant of the truth of God’s word. The Lord is calling us today to be set apart and to be holy for He is holy. He desires to manifest His glory in the hearts and lives of His sons and daughters and seeks those today who would be set apart from the world and its wickedness.
