For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith —and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.
We are saved by the grace of God. There are some today who make the mistake and become very legalistic. We become legalistic when the focus of our relationship with Christ becomes works over the grace of God. The grace of God will always proceeds the works produced from our relationship with Him because it is the power of the Holy Spirit within us that produces the works in our lives.
Our standing before the Lord is not based on performance not based upon behavior. Our standing before God is simply based upon faith in Jesus. For when our faith and trust is in Jesus His righteousness is applied to our lives. But may our focus be the grace of God and may we understand the gift of God’s grace that has been lavished upon us.
