And let the peace of God rule in your hearts

15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.  Colossians 3:15

There is a perfect peace that is found in Jesus Christ alone.  People search the earth to find peace.  Some believe peace can be found in a relationship with another person.  Some believe peace can be found in wealth or in fame.  But in all of those people find all they are left with is emptiness.

There is only one place that peace can be found and that is in Jesus Christ alone.  When we entrust our lives to Jesus Christ and keep Him the focus of our lives, we will walk in perfect peace.  A decision to follow Jesus Christ is one in which we make Him the focus and obsession of our lives.  To follow Christ is to desire to know Him with everything that is within us.

When Jesus walked upon the earth He spoke of abundant life.  Abundant life can only be found when we daily walk in deep intimate fellowship with the Lord.  He is alive and living and therefore we can draw near and come to know Him in a deep, personal, intimate way.

The more we draw near to Him, the more we become like Him.  Walking in holiness is a result of coming to know Jesus Christ on an intimate level.  Many rob themselves of all that God has for them because they allow other things to take the place He deserves.

One of the greatest battles the nation of Israel faced throughout its history is guarding their hearts against idolatry.  There are things in this world that will continually try to usurp the Lordship of Jesus Christ in our hearts.  But the way we protect our hearts is simply by drawing near to Him daily.

He has called us to draw near to the throne of grace with confidence.  When we understand the full measure of the price that Jesus paid, we will draw near with our whole heart.  If we will simply draw near with our whole heart, we will experience all that God has for us upon this earth.  He desires that we would be a vessel for His glory and this only comes as we walk with Him closely each and every day.
