Listen to counsel and receive instruction, That you may be wise in your latter days. There are many plans in a man’s heart, Nevertheless the Lord’s counsel—that will stand.
It is vital that we take time to listen and receive instruction from the Lord. Mistakes are made when we just jump into something without truly seeking the Lord. A Christian who claims to follow Christ but spend no time in prayer seeking the Lord is truly a fool. Jesus has made the way for us to approach the throne of grace with confidence and we allow other things to take the place of simply seeking the Lord.
If our desire is to walk in the promises God has for us then it requires us to seek the Lord. There will be some who stand before the Lord someday and are chastised instead of receiving rewards. They wasted their lives and the gifts that God had given them and were like the man in the parable who buried his talent in the sand. May we seek the Lord daily and make prayer the priority of our lives. Again it is incredibly foolish to claim to follow Christ and not seek Him daily.
