23 “And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. 24 Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. John 16:23-24
The name of Jesus is mighty and it is powerful. Because of the name of Jesus and what Jesus did at Calvary, we have been given authority on this earth to accomplish the will of our Father in Heaven. It is through prayer that the kingdom is advanced upon the earth in the lives and hearts of people.
We must understand something very important about prayer. When Jesus says to ask in His name and it will be given to us, it is important that we understand that we must ask according to the will of our Father in Heaven. When Jesus was speaking these words He was speaking to the disciples. The disciples had committed their lives to Him and walked with Him daily.
Whenever anyone is a true disciple of Christ and walks with Him on a daily basis, the desires within their hearts will align with the desires and plans of God’s kingdom. We are vessels of God’s glory and it is through us that He accomplishes His plans and purposes upon the earth.
We have been created in His image and when we pray forth and speak forth His will in the name of Jesus, the mighty power of God’s kingdom is released upon the earth. Many times we fail to understand how much power and authority actually exist in prayer for every believer. We have the opportunity to shape nations and history according to the will of our Father in Heaven.
The reasons Jesus went to the cross was to reconcile humanity back to God. It is through Jesus that we can approach the throne of grace with confidence. May we understand the authority we have in the place of prayer and may we cry out to the Lord in our day to see His manifest glory and power. May we cry out for a greater measure of the power and might of the Holy Spirit. God is waiting to hear the prayers of His sons and daughters, because when His sons and daughters pray according to His heart, the full measure of His power and glory is released into the earth.
Now is the day and hour to make ourselves a house of prayer. Now is the day and hour to make the priority of our lives seeking His face. His return is very near and there is a mighty harvest before us. Let us pray that hearts and lives be prepared to receive the gospel. That greater doors of ministry and opportunity be open. That greater churches and ministries be planted. Now is the day and hour of the salvation of the Lord. The church age is coming to an end. Prepare your hearts and be diligent to accomplish the business of our Father in Heaven.
