For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.”
Claiming to follow Jesus Christ requires obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Someone who truly loves Jesus and has received Him as Lord and Savior will desire truth and desire to live a life that is honoring unto God. Someone who claims to follow Christ but still desire to live in the darkness and pursue the things of wickedness needs to truly examine one’s heart.
Following Christ as the bible ascribes results in transformation. The process of sanctification is one in which it happens throughout a person’s life and they are simply transformed into the image of Jesus. The more we walk with the Lord and spend time in prayer and the study of His word the more our lives are transformed. Everything is transformed and that includes the desires of our heart.
As we grow in Christ the desires of our heart become the Lord and His kingdom. He becomes our obsession and our only aim. We desire to please Him in all things. The trials and challenges a person faces will test the condition of their hearts. Those who have not truly given their whole heart to Christ will be revealed by every trial they face. For in the midst of the trials we face our faith will truly be tested and if we hold fast to the truth we have in Christ our faith will be refined as gold.
