15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Matthew 16:15-16
When the Lord asked the disciples who do people say that I am, they responded with many different things. But it was Peter who declared that Jesus was the Christ, the Son of the living God. What truly matters when it comes to salvation is who do we say Jesus Christ is. There are some who claim Jesus was only a teacher, some claimed He was simply a prophet, and some claimed He was a blasphemer. But Jesus is truly the Son of God. For anyone to be saved they must believe that Jesus is the Son of God.
Jesus made it clear when He walked the earth that He is the only way to the Father. We live in a world that claims there are many different ways to God. Some claim that God doesn’t even exist. But the truth remains that Jesus alone is the only way to God the Father. It is only through the precious blood of Jesus that our sins are washed away. We cannot earn our way to Heaven and our good works will not earn or atone for our salvation. It is through faith alone that we are saved and it is by grace alone. May we receive all that Jesus has for us and walk with Him each day, being obedient to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
