3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, 4 always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, 5 for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, 6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; 7 just as it is right for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart, inasmuch as both in my chains and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers with me of grace. 8 For God is my witness, how greatly I long for you all with the affection of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:3-8
The apostle Paul understood the power of prayer and the grace of God. When we go before the Lord in prayer and pray without ceasing, His power and His glory is released into the earth. When we are praying for people the Holy Spirit begins to work in the heart of that person. The Lord begins to mold and shape the circumstances that surround that person’s life to soften their hearts and lead them to a deeper walk with Jesus Christ.
It is by God’s grace that the plans and purposes He has created us for are accomplish in our lives. It doesn’t matter how strong we think we are or how much power we think we have, without the Lord we are absolutely nothing. When He created us He created us with a specific plan and purpose that fits perfectly into His sovereign will.
He has chosen us before the foundations of the world and our walking with Christ is not by accident. It is the Holy Spirit who has drawn us and leads and guides us on a daily basis. The more we draw near to the Lord and spend time in prayer and the study of God’s word, the more we come to discern the voice and leading of the Holy Spirit.
One of the great lies of the enemy is that some how something we have done has destroyed God’s plan and purpose for our lives. The Lord knows every mistake we will make and has so shaped our lives to bring forth His will in our lives. The key for us is simply seeking the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength.
As we seek the Lord daily it is God’s grace that covers us and it is the Holy Spirit that leads and guides us. Where many fail is that they simply do not seek the Lord. They fail to persevere and endure in the face of suffering. In this world we will face trouble and we will face tribulation. But through everything we face the Lord is shaping, molding, and refining us. May we draw near and prepare our hearts daily for His soon return.
