12 For we do not commend ourselves again to you, but give you opportunity to boast on our behalf, that you may have an answer for those who boast in appearance and not in heart. 13 For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God; or if we are of sound mind, it is for you. 14 For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. 2 Corinthians 5:12-15
Throughout the centuries those who have diligently followed Jesus Christ with all their heart have faced suffering and tribulation. The Apostle Paul himself was well acquainted with suffering. The entire book of second Corinthians is the apostle Paul defending his ministry.
False teachers had come into the Corinthian church and made false accusations against the apostle Paul. But the apostle Paul was driven by the love of Christ. Through the power and might of the Holy Spirit the apostle Paul continued to press on and advance God’s kingdom.
The key to the Christian journey is understanding that we don’t live for ourselves. When we make Jesus our Lord and Savior we give up our lives unto the Lord and His will becomes the driving force in our lives. It is the Holy Spirit who leads and guides us into all truth. Let us fix our eyes upon Jesus each day and understand no matter how difficult the trials or suffering we face that the Lord’s grace is sufficient and His strength is made perfect in our weakness.
