Be still, and know that I am God

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

Psalm 46:10 NIV

God is fully in control.  Often times in our lives we get caught up focusing on our circumstances and we become worried and stressed out.  As we focus on circumstances more and more we become discouraged.  Instead of focusing on our circumstances we need to focus our hearts upon Jesus alone.

God sits upon the throne of eternity and He holds all things in His hands.  His will is sovereign and on a daily basis He is bringing His will to pass upon the earth.  His ways are higher than our ways and many times when God is doing a deep work in a person’s life and preparing them for what He has for them there is a painful work that takes place.

Because our Father in Heaven loves us, He prunes us.  He is continuing to cut away the aspects of our sinful nature and building within us the character and nature of who Jesus is.  This is why abiding in Him is so very important.  As we abide in Him through prayer and the study of His word, we are strengthen for every challenge and trial we will face.  He will fill us with wisdom and with understanding.  He will lead and guide us.  But for us to be still then we must simply abide.
