But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting On those who fear Him

But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting On those who fear Him, And His righteousness to children’s children, To such as keep His covenant, And to those who remember His commandments to do them.

Psalm 103:17-18 NKJV

To fear the Lord is to have deep reverential worship for who the Lord is.  It is not to be terrified of the Lord, but to understand that He alone is God and is greatly to be praised.  If we desire to share in the blessings of the Lord than obedience is a must.  The grace of God is not a license to sin.  The grace of God is His unmerited favor upon our lives.

We have done nothing to earn the grace of God.  It is simply placed upon our lives because we have placed our faith and trust in Jesus Christ.  We are called on a daily basis to die to our sinful nature.  Throughout our lives we will continually face temptation, but the only way we overcome temptation is in the power of the Holy Spirit.

God has given us all that we need to walk in victory.  We must use the tools and weapons God has given us.  We are called to abide in Him through prayer and the study of His word on a daily basis.  If we are simply trying to live off of the time we spend in fellowship on Sunday mornings to carry us through the week then we are simply deceiving ourselves.

The only way for us to experience all that God has for us is to walk in obedience and this is only a result of abiding in Him.  Walking in obedience and holiness is impossible in our own strength.  It is very easy to become consumed with activity where we ignore our time alone with the Lord.  But spending time alone with the Lord in His presence is essential for us walking in all that God has planned and purposed for our lives.  He has created us with destiny and purpose, may we not forfeit it because we fail to abide in Him and walk in obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
