But I do not consider my life of any account as dear to myself, so that I may finish my course and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify solemnly of the gospel of the grace of God.
Christianity and walking with Christ is not simply about beginning with Christ, it is about finishing. We are giving warnings time and time again in God’s word from falling away. The Lord commanded us daily to abide in Him because He understands our every weakness and understands in ourselves that we are incapable of overcoming and walking in victory.
But as we abide in Him through prayer and the study of God’s word our hearts and lives are transformed by the work and power of the Holy Spirit. Walking with Jesus is simply about being transformed. The fruit of the Holy Spirit should be growing in our lives and if it is not we need to reexamine our hearts and ask why.
The main reason some Christians fail to develop the fruit of the Holy Spirit is they fail to abide in the Lord and especially spend time in God’s word daily. We are transformed by the renewing of our minds and this takes place by the power of the Holy Spirit as we study and examine God’s word. The Lord has a plan and destiny for each of us. Let us abide each day and simply understand that our walk with Christ happens one step at a time.
