He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus

21 But now apart [k]from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those [l]who believe; for there is no distinction; 23 for all [m]have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; 25 whom God displayed publicly as a [n]propitiation [o]in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, [p]because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed;26 for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who [q]has faith in Jesus.  Romans 3:21-26

Righteousness is a gift from God.  It is not earned but is a result of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  Jesus became our substitute.  We are the ones who deserve the wrath and punishment of Almighty God.  We are the ones whose hearts are inherently wicked.  But Jesus who is perfect chose to take our place and take the sin of the world upon Himself.

Any who place their faith and hope in Jesus Christ are declared righteous before Almighty God.  Jesus was publicly crucified as a testament to His righteousness.  He was falsely accused and He was led like a lamb to the slaughter.  He didn’t try to defend Himself, He simply gave His life because of the love He has for us.

He knew what He would face when He came to the earth as a baby.  He knew the punishment and the pain He would face at Calvary.  He knew that for the first time in all eternity for that moment upon the cross that He would be separated from His Father as He took the sin of the world upon Himself.

But it wasn’t the nails that held Him to the cross, it was His love.  He could have called down legion upon legions of angels to take Him off the cross.  But He choose the cross.  It is in the cross that salvation is found.  It is in the cross that healing is found.  It is in the cross that freedom is found.  All that we need is found in the cross of Jesus Christ.  His precious blood breaks the curse of sin and death and sets us free from the dominion of darkness and the rule of Satan over our lives.

In Christ we are no longer slaves of sin, we become bond servants of Jesus Christ.  May our eyes always be fixed upon Jesus.  May we pursue Him with our whole heart.  My we remove every idol and every hindrance.  May our lives simply be living sacrifices before the Lord.  His grace is poured forth upon our lives.  May our lives simply be used to glorify and magnify His name.
