I love the Lord, because He has heard My voice and my supplications.

I love the Lord, because He has heard
My voice and my supplications.
Because He has inclined His ear to me,
Therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live.  Psalm 116:1-2

Every time we go to the Lord in prayer He hears us and answers prayers according to His will.  Sometimes this is difficult to understand because we want God to move in our time and in our way.  But we must remember that He sees the whole picture and He exist outside of time.  His will is sovereign and His ways are above our ways.

Many times when we pray and we don’t see things happening with our physical eyes, the greatest work is simply taking place in our hearts.  He desires to develop within us the character of Christ and the fruit of the Holy Spirit.  This happens as we spend time in His presence and it happens as we are appointed by Him to wait upon Him.  The Lord chooses us for a season of waiting because it is in that season of waiting that the Lord desires to do a very deep work.

It can be very painful to wait upon the Lord.  We will see Him move in the lives of others and often wonder where our promise is.  We may even begin to believe that God has abandoned and has forgotten us.  But these are simply lies from the enemy.  The Lord will never forsake us and the good work He began in us He will bring to completion by His love, grace, and His power.  We must keep our hearts fixed upon Him and simply spend time in His presence.  As we seek Him in prayer and in studying His word our lives are transformed.  No matter how much of the Lord we have in our lives there is always more.  No matter how far or deep we have gone with the Lord there is always a farther and deeper place to go.  May we simply fix our eyes upon Jesus and abide in Him.
