7 When the Lamb broke the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come[h].” 8 I looked, and behold, an [i]ashen horse; and he who sat on it had the name Death; and Hades was following with him. Authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with [j]pestilence and by the wild beasts of the earth. Revelation 6:7-8
When the fourth seal is broken wide spread death is released upon the earth. Death will come in four ways: with the sword, with famine, with pestilence, and by wild beast. We need to understand that the breaking of the seals is the outpouring of God’s judgment during the seven year tribulation. It is a result of the wickedness of mankind upon the earth.
God has given every person an opportunity now to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior. But sadly many will go through this life and choose to reject Jesus because they would rather be the god of their own lives and pursue the selfish interest that exist within their hearts. The human heart is inherently wicked and the only solution for sin that exist in the life of every person is found in the blood of Jesus.
When the judgment of God is poured out it will be unlike anything this earth has ever seen. Throughout history we have seen God’s judgment poured out on different nations, but we have never seen the judgment of God poured out upon the entire world except when God flooded the earth during the time of Noah’s day.
But I pray that as the body of Christ we would intercede for the lost and pray that hearts would be softened and prepared for the gospel. Those who are left upon the earth during the tribulation will experience the wrath and judgment of the Almighty. It is also important to understand that when the fourth seal is broken that a fourth of the population of the earth at this time will be killed.
We never know what tomorrow will bring, but we who know Jesus Christ know the one who holds all things in His hand. We have nothing to fear and may we plant the seeds of God’s word as the Holy Spirit leads us and gives us opportunity. The hour of the Lord’s return for His bride draws near. May we abide in Him daily and flee the things of this world and the things of darkness. May our lives be a living sacrifice unto the Lord and may we seek Him with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength.
