Then I saw when the Lamb broke one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying as with a voice of thunder, “Come[a].” 2 I looked, and behold, a white horse, and he who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer. Revelation 6:1-2
As the Lord breaks the first of the seven seals the judgement of Almighty God is poured out upon the earth. This will take place during the seven year tribulation which was spoken of by Daniel the prophet who prophesied about God’s seventy weeks which all focused upon the nation of Israel (Daniel 9:24-27). Each of these seventy weeks is representative of collection of seven years and the seventieth week will be fulled during the time of the seven year tribulation.
The opening of the first seal brings forth the anti-Christ. The reason it states that he came upon a white horse is that when the anti-Christ first arrives upon the scene those who are left upon the earth will see him as a man of peace. He will come forth claiming to be able to solve every problem the world faces and in exchange he will be exalted by those who are deceived.
He has a bow in his hand because he will conquer the nations of the earth and will establish a one world government. The crown represents the authority he has for a period of time and God will use the rise of the anti-Christ to judge the nations of the earth. As we continue to walk through the book of Revelation we will see that there will come a point in which the anti-Christ shall receive a mortal wound three and a half years into the seven year tribulation and it is at that time that Satan shall possess his body and empower him.
But those who reject Jesus Christ now do so because they desire to chase after the emptiness of this world. They desire to indulge in the wickedness of sin and as we look at the times in which we live we can see how the hearts of those who are lost are being prepared for the rise of the anti-Christ. Many are calling for a one world government and many desire that nations give up their sovereignty for the greater good of the world.
The anti-Christ will not come forth or be revealed until the restraining work of the Holy Spirit is removed (2 Thessalonians 2). The restraining work of the Holy Spirit takes place through the body of Christ. As long as the bride of Christ is upon the earth the anti-Christ and the events of the seven year tribulation will not take place. But once the rapture has taken place and the bride of Christ is removed it will open the way for the judgement of the Lord to be poured out upon the earth. It is important as God’s sons and daughters that we diligently study God’s word daily and be a people of prayer. As prayer and intercession increases upon the earth so will the power and might of the Holy Spirit in our midst.
