3 seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us [d]by His own glory and [e]excellence. 4 [f]For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust. 2 Peter 1:3-4
The divine nature is the character of Christ within us. When we place our faith and trust in Jesus Christ we become born again. Our hearts are renewed toward God and we are able to draw near to God with confidence because our sin no longer remain. Jesus has made the way possible for us to draw near and it is through drawing near that our hearts and lives are transformed.
Everything accomplished in our lives for God’s kingdom is by His power. In ourselves we are powerless and unable to accomplish anything for God’s kingdom. But we have been given the precious Holy Spirit who not only leads and guides us into all truth, but empowers and strengthens us for all things. The Holy Spirit enables us to accomplish the impossible. This is why Jesus told the disciples that He needed to go so that the Holy Spirit would come.
As we study God’s word and as the Holy Spirit reveals the truth of God’s word within us the strongholds and lies of the enemy are broken. When we come to Christ we still have the lies of the enemy that try to overwhelm us. But as we study God’s word and spend time in prayer, we are matured and begin to walk in victory and freedom in all things. Everything we have from Jesus is a gift. There is nothing earned in God’s kingdom. God has simply called us to be faithful with the gifts and talents He has given unto us.
