Deuteronomy 6:6-7: Repeat them again and again to your children

And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.

Deuteronomy 6: 6-7 NLT

It is so important that we teach children the word of God.  That on a daily basis we spend time in God’s word with out children.  We cannot expect the church to raise our children.  Most families find themselves at church once a week and for the other six days of the week children are bombarded by the lies of the enemy.

Through social media and entertainment Satan pours his lies and deceptions into the earth on a daily basis.  For children to be protected and grow to be who God has called them to be we must cover their lives in prayer on a daily basis and sow the word of God into their hearts.  The enemy often times will find a foothold and door into a family when parents become lax on their only personal relationship with God.

Parents are called to be wise stewards of their children.  The children we are given by the Lord do not belong to us.  We are stewards over them for a time, but in the end they belong to the Lord.  When parents are not disciplined in their own relationship with Jesus Christ they will give the enemy footholds in their own lives which in turn will turn into footholds in the lives of their children.

If our desire is to raise children who love the Lord with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength and love their neighbor as themselves then it simply begins with a parent establishing the same in their own lives.  Let us daily spend time in the word of God with our children and may we share the truth of God’s word in a way that our children can understand.  The more time a child spends in God’s word, the more they will make it part of their lives as they grow into adulthood.  The greatest gift any child has is a parent who has dedicated their lives to prayer and the study of God’s word.
