14 His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire; 15 His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters; 16 He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength. Revelation 1:14-16.
John is seeing Jesus in all His glory. The sad truth for many who fail to study the book of Revelation is that they only know Jesus as the suffering servant who first came to earth. But when we examine and study the book of Revelation we see Jesus in all His glory. He sits at the right hand of the Father and He shall soon return for His bride.
Jesus hair being white like wool speaks of His eternal nature. Though Jesus was born on the earth, He has always existed. He has no beginning and no end. The first time He came to the earth He emptied Himself of all His glory, but He shall return in His full glory as the conquering King that He is.
His feet being as fine brass refined in a furnace speaks of His perfection. There is no corruption in Him and He is perfect in every way. When He walked the earth He was tested in every way and never once sinned. He was the perfect sacrifice for humanity for all time. All those who call Him Lord and Savior are covered by His precious blood and their sin no longer remains. In Christ our righteousness is found alone.
His voice being as mighty waters speaks of His power and His majesty. He spoke all things into existence and through Him all things were created. When the Heavens and Earth were created the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit will all involved. There is a perfect unity that exist with in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit that we cannot grasp with our finite human minds.
The right hand is the hand of authority and within His right hand He holds the seven stars. We will come to find out later that the seven stars represent the seven angels who preside over the seven churches. Jesus holds all things in His hands and has been given all authority. He has given His authority to all those who call upon His name and give Him their lives.
The two edged sword is the word of God that proceeds out of His mouth and some day when He returns to judge the world and establish His kingdom, He will speak forth and destroy the anti-Christ, the false prophet, and the armies of the earth. None can stand before Him and at His name every knee shall bow, those in heaven, on earth, and under the earth.
His countenance is like the sun shinning in all its strength. If you have ever spent time near the equator or where there is consistent sunshine you know the strength the sun has when it shines in all its strength. The bottom line is the vision John saw of Jesus took His breath away and John simply described it the best way that he could. But in all actuality there are not words enough to describe the majesty and beauty of Jesus Christ.
As followers of Christ we will one day spend all eternity with the Lord. Every moment of eternity we will be able to walk with Him and never leave His presence. We will see Him face to face and it is not something that we can fully grasp now. The greatest aspect of Heaven is not the rewards, it is being able to see our savior face to face, hear His voice and know that we will never leave His presence. Keep pressing on my friend because the hour of His return for His bride draws near.
