In this the love of God was manifested toward us

In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.

1 John 4:9 NKJV

God demonstrated His love for us by sending His Son Jesus to die for our sins and take the wrath and punishment that we deserved.  Jesus is called the Lamb of God because He was the ultimate sacrifice for humanity.  He was without sin and took the sin of the world upon Himself.  He took the full wrath of the Father for sin and took it upon Himself.  It was His love that led Him to the cross and it was His love for us that held Him to the cross.  At His name every knee shall bow.

But the key is that we live through Him.  When we come to Christ we are born again.  We must open our hearts wide to all that the Holy Spirit has for us.  Our ability to walk in freedom and victory is not based upon our own strength or our own ability.  The way we walk in victory and freedom is through surrendering every area of our lives to Jesus.  As we develop intimacy with Jesus our minds and hearts become one with His.  We begin to see the world through His eyes and we view our circumstances through His eyes.

In Galatians 2:20 it states: 20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.  This life is not about us.  It is about surrendering our lives to Jesus and giving Him everything.  Giving Him our hopes and dreams and embracing His will for our lives.  We are called to be servants of the Most High God.  May our lives be living sacrifices that simply exist to glorify and magnify the name of Jesus.
