Having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets Ephesians 2:19-22

19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone,21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.  Ephesians 2:19-22

Jesus Christ is the corner stone on which everything is built.  A corner stone is a stone representing the nominal starting place in the construction of a monumental building, usually carved with the date and laid with appropriate ceremonies.  Jesus is the beginning of the church, He is the head of all things.  His death and resurrection but into motion the new covenant between God and man.  It opened the door of salvation to the gentiles.  A gentile is simply anyone who is not of Jewish descent.

Every believer today who comes to faith in Jesus Christ are adopted into God’s family and become a child of God.  Being born again is a supernatural event.  It is the work of the Holy Spirit.  When we are born again our spirits are once again reborn and have full access and fellowship with Almighty God.  This fellowship and intimacy was broken and destroyed in the garden of Eden when Adam and Eve sinned.  But Jesus came and gave His life.  He laid down His life and His precious blood washes clean anyone who places their full faith and trust in Jesus.

As the body of Christ we are the dwelling place of Almighty God.  God does not reside in buildings, He resides in the hearts and lives of His people.  If we desire to see the manifest glory of God in our midst then we must surrender our lives wholly to Jesus Christ.  When we as a people remove every idol and make Jesus the priority of our lives we will see His manifest glory in our midst.  There is nothing that separates us from Almighty God when we are in Christ.  Our sins are forgiven and we are declared righteous.  Let us draw near with our whole heart.
