14 For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, 15 having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, 16 and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity. 17 And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near. 18 For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father. Ephesians 2:14-18
Jesus through His death and resurrection has become our mediator between us and the Father. We are able to go boldly to the throne of grace with confidence because our sins have been forgiven and no longer remain. He choose the nails and He choose the cross. He came because of His love, grace, and mercy for us.
He is our peace. The enmity that existed between us and Almighty God before we came to Christ because of the sin in our lives no longer remains. Under the Old Covenant a curtain separated the holy of holies from the rest of the temple. The only one who was able to enter the Holy of Holies was the high priest on the day of Atonement.
But on the day that Jesus was crucified, after He cried it is finished that curtain was torn in two and any who would place their hope and trust in Jesus could enter into the Holy of Holies. We have full access to the Father and so many times we allow the busyness of life to keep us from drawing near to our Father in Heaven.
Let us fix our eyes upon Jesus the author and perfector of our faith. In all that we do He should always be the focus. When He is lifted up He will draw all men unto Himself. When we make glorify the name of Jesus the pursuit of our lives, we will become the people we are called to be.
