Therefore gird up the loins of your mind

13 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; 15 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:13-16.

Our minds are assaulted on a daily basis by the lies and deceptions of the enemy.  The only way we can discern a lie is to know and understand the truth of God’s word.  There are natural consequences for failing to diligently study God’s word.  When we fail to diligently study God’s word we will succumb to the lies and deceptions of the enemy.  If we believe that we are strong enough in ourselves we are greatly deceived.  The Lord alone is the one who carries and leads us to victory.

When we diligently study God’s word we will walk in the freedom and authority we have in Christ.  The battlefield is truly the mind because it is in the mind where decisions are made on a daily basis.  Decisions lead and guide the direction of our lives.  When our minds are focused upon Christ and we walk in obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit we will naturally experience the peace and presence of the Lord in all things.  The blessing of the Lord will be poured out on every area of our lives.

Satan is the father of lies and every word that proceed from his mouth is a lie and deception.  When Satan lies the lies he speaks do not look or sound like outright lies.  They actually seem like truth, but they are greatly twisted and cloaked in deception.  We as human beings are truly sheep and those who fail to abide and who fail to be serious students of God’s word will be deceived in this last hour.  The deceptions of Satan fill the earth and those who diligently study God’s word will shine brightly in this hour.

We are called to be holy because He alone is holy.  Walking in holiness is not based upon our own strength or power.  It is actually an outgrowth of our maturity in Christ.  The journey with Jesus is one of transformation and being transformed into His image.  As we are transformed and the fruit of the Holy Spirit grows in our lives we naturally reflect the holiness of who Jesus is.
