He will cover you with His feathers

He will cover you with his feathers,
    and under his wings you will find refuge;
    his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.  Psalm 91:4

A rampart according to dictionary.com:

  1. a broad elevation or mound of earth raised as a fortification around a place and usually capped with a stone or earth parapet.

The bottom line is the Lord is our refuge and our defense.  In this world we will face trouble and tribulation.  But we have nothing to fear.  The Lord actually uses every tribulation and trouble we face for our good.  Through it all the Lord walks with us and prepares every step.  The true battlefield is in our minds and where we place our focus.

We have a decision and a choice where we choose to fix our focus.  We can choose to fix our eyes upon our circumstances and our challenges.  When we do this we are no different than the ten spies who spied out the promise land and came back with a negative report.  Their focus was on the giants in the land.

Or our focus can be upon the Lord and His will for our lives.  When our focus is upon the Lord we are like Joshua and Caleb who did not focus upon the giants in the land, but focused upon what God was going to do in the lives of the Israelites.

God has given us promises throughout His word and there is a reason the word of God is called the sword of the Spirit.  The word of God carries the power of God’s kingdom behind it.  When we have the thoughts and lies of the enemy bombarding us we must focus our hearts and minds upon God’s word and His promises.

This is why it is so important for us to be diligent students of God’s word and be in God’s word daily.  When the Israelites were in the desert, they were commanded by the Lord to get fresh manna daily.  They were not called to live on the manna of yesterday.  We are called to be in God’s word daily, receiving fresh revelation from the Holy Spirit.

Our ability to be diligent and disciplined students of God’s word will be the difference between walking in victory and walking in defeat.  The ability to walk in victory and authority simply comes down to abiding in the Lord.  Jesus has purchased us the victory and has given us authority.  For us to be able to operate in all that Christ has for us requires that we simply abide in Him.
