He is my refuge

I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”  Psalm 91:2

Jesus is our fortress and our refuge.  It is easy to become fearful in the world we live in.  It seems that darkness surrounds us and at times it seems the Lord is silent.  But what many fail to understand is that God is doing a very deep work in the hearts of many throughout the earth.  Those who have faithful served the Lord in the secret place, like King David shall be elevated in due time.

When God promotes someone in His kingdom He promotes those who are very faithful in the little things.  Those who desire to stand upon a stage in front of hundreds and thousands often times desire to get their quickly.  But the Lord understands the dangers that exist when someone is propelled into the public light too quickly.

Throughout history we have seen many well known people in ministry fall from their place of prominence in the public eye.  They allowed themselves to become disconnected from the secret place and became prideful of their position and influence.

King David was a man after God’s own heart and spent many years in the place of preparation before he became King of Israel.  But it was his time in preparation that prepared his heart to serve the Lord faithfully.  Was David a perfect man, the answer is no.  But for someone to be referred to as a man after God’s own heart in God’s word is a telling statement.

No matter what we face we know that we can trust the Lord.  No matter how dire or how difficult things look the Lord will work it together for our good.  This walk is a walk of faith.  It is the shield of faith that protects us against the fiery arrows of the enemy.  We need to fix our hearts on Jesus alone.  Not on our circumstances or our challenges.  The circumstances we presently face can change over night because it simply takes a single word from our Father in Heaven to change any circumstance because He merely spoke all things into existence.

Father I come before you today and ask you to fix my eyes upon Jesus.  Help me Father not to focus on the trials I face today or the challenges.  I pray that you would fill my heart and life with your wisdom and your strength.  To see all things as you see things.  In the name of Jesus!
