Hear my prayer, Lord God Almighty

Hear my prayer, Lord God Almighty;
    listen to me, God of Jacob.
Look on our shield,[e] O God;
    look with favor on your anointed one.  Psalm 84:8-9

The Lord is our fortress, He is our shield and our protector.  Since we are His sons and daughters covered by the precious blood of His Son Jesus we are able to go with boldness before His throne.  We are able to pour our hearts out before Him and know that He moves mightily upon our behalf.

There are many challenges and trials that we face in this life.  Many times the Lord allows us to encounter challenges and trials that are greater than our strength and ability so that we will seek Him in the place of prayer.  More than anything He is concerned with developing intimacy with us.  He desires to develop a deep relationship with us in which we will walk with Him in unbroken fellowship.

This is possible because since we are covered by the blood of Jesus our sin no longer separates us from Him.  Though we may sin at times and make mistakes, His blood remains upon us and covers every sin we will ever commit in our lives.  It does not give us a license to sin, but it enables us to walk in the same intimacy that Jesus walked in.

We have been adopted into God’s family by His grace and mercy.  We didn’t deserve salvation and we have done nothing to earn His love or forgiveness.  The only thing that can cover and redeem our sin is the precious blood of Jesus.  Let us draw near in the secret place and allow the Lord to transform us into His image.

He seeks that His people become a house of prayer.  For when we become a house of prayer our hearts and minds will be one with Him.  As our hearts and minds become one with His, we will naturally walk in unity and every prayer and petition will align with His will.  He desires to display His glory for all the earth to see and will do so through the lives of His sons and daughters.

Today focus not on the challenges or trials you face.  Focus solely upon Jesus.  Fix your eyes upon Him and seek first His kingdom and His righteousness.  May we set aside every idol and hindrance that would stand between us and the Lord.  May we simply pursue Him with our whole hearts.
