For Christ [the Messiah Himself] died for sins once for all, the Righteous for the unrighteous (the Just for the unjust, the Innocent for the guilty), that He might bring us to God. In His human body He was put to death, but He was made alive in the spirit,
Jesus died so that we could once again have fellowship with the Father and draw near. When Adam and Eve sinned in the garden, their sin caused a separation between them and God. Throughout history before Jesus came humanity was separated from the Lord and the nation of Israel was under the Old Covenant that was based on obedience to the law.
But through Christ we are free. We are no longer under the law and our sins have been forgiven once and for all. Our ability to draw near is based upon faith alone in who Jesus is and what He has done. The more we draw near to the Lord and abide in Him, the more we are transformed into His image by the power of the Holy Spirit. Christianity is not a religion, it is a intimate relationship with Almighty God. Jesus made the choice to lay down His life for us and all who would humble themselves and make Him Lord and Savior will spend all eternity in God’s kingdom.
