“For it is God’s will and intention that by doing right [your good and honest lives] should silence (muzzle, gag) the ignorant charges and ill-informed criticisms of foolish persons. [Live] as free people, [yet] without employing your freedom as a pretext for wickedness; but [live at all times] as servants of God.”1 Peter 2:15-16 AMPC
As followers of Christ there will be times when we are falsely accused. But as we abide in Him and grow our lives are transformed. Our conduct and character aligns itself with Jesus Christ and in every way our lives reflect who He is. People cannot argue against a life that is transformed. They may be able to argue against scripture and whether it is true or not, but they cannot argue against a life that is transformed into the image of Christ.
The freedom we have in Christ should never be used to indulge in the sinful nature. There will always be temptation as long as we are on the earth. But we are called to grow into the image of Christ and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. It is actually the freedom we have in Christ that enables us to walk in obedience and holiness. Our lives are to be a living sacrifice to the Lord. In Christ our lives are not our own. Let us draw near each day and be transformed by the love, grace, and mercy of almighty God.
