Keep your heart with all diligence

23 Keep your heart with all diligence,
For out of it spring the issues of life.  Proverbs 4:23

We are called to keep our heart with all diligence.  When God’s word speaks of our heart it speaks of the center of our mind, will, and emotions.  If our mind and our will is centered upon the Lord, all that we desire will align with His kingdom and His word.  But we must guard our hearts from the deceptions of this world.

It is very easy to be deceived in this day and hour in which we live.  Through social media and entertainment the enemy is flooding the earth with incredible lie and deception.  Many are indulging in the lust of the sinful nature because when we indulge it feels so good.  But what many fail to understand is that indulging in the things of darkness and the sinful nature carry with it a very steep and destructive price.

As people indulge more and more what they fail to understand is that they become enslaved to the world’s system.  They become desensitized to the things of wickedness where at some point they become a vessel through which the enemy operates.  People are truly sheep and easily deceived and those who see the things of God as foolishness are deceived the most.

To guard our hearts we must be in God’s word daily and in prayer.  Spending time in the Lord’s presence will strengthen us and prepare us.  We cannot travel this journey alone.  We are not strong enough and will crumble under the challenges of this world.  But when we fully rely upon the Lord and His ways, it is the Lord’s strength that will be protected in our weakness.  Let us focus our hearts fully upon the Lord and know that His grace is always sufficient.
