John 14:25-31: But I will come back to you again

25 I am telling you these things now while I am still with you. 26 But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.

27 “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid. 28 Remember what I told you: I am going away, but I will come back to you again. If you really loved me, you would be happy that I am going to the Father, who is greater than I am.29 I have told you these things before they happen so that when they do happen, you will believe.

30 “I don’t have much more time to talk to you, because the ruler of this world approaches. He has no power over me, 31 but I will do what the Father requires of me, so that the world will know that I love the Father. Come, let’s be going.  John 14:25-31

Jesus has given us many wonderful things through His death and resurrection.  He has given us salvation through His name and shed blood.  He has given us the power and might of the Holy Spirit.  He has given us His strength and His joy.  He has also given us His peace that surpasses all human understanding.

The peace of God is much different than the peace the world knows.  The peace the world knows is the calm that exist when conflict is not present.  But the peace of God is much different than this.  The peace of God is the peace that exist that is found from His presence.  The peace of God is present through any storm and is available to any believer in Jesus Christ.

The problem for many is that their minds and their hearts are focused on so many other things.  We have allowed so many things to become idols and take the rightful place that Jesus deserves.  Our job can become an idol, our marriage can become and idol, our family can become and idol, the desire to become successful can become an idol.

Anything that takes the time and priority that Jesus deserves has become an idol.  When we seek first God’s kingdom and His righteousness, His hand supernaturally moves in every other area of our lives bringing all things into balance and in order.  But when we in our own strength pursue to bring order into things or become obsessed with something it has now become an idol.

Jesus went back to the Father so that we could have the Holy Spirit and many Christians today are ignorant of who the Holy Spirit is.  He is not a thing or a force.  He is the third person of the trinity who is equal with the Father and the Son.  His role is to lead and guide us into all truth and empower us to accomplish the purposes of God upon the earth.  We can develop deep intimacy with the Holy Spirit as we spend time in intimate prayer with the Lord and spend time in God’s word.

We live in very difficult times and the power and leading of the Holy Spirit is essential.  We will either be in control or we will follow the leading of the Holy Spirit.  When we are in control we fall hard each and every time and struggle all along the way.  When we follow the leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit we have the peace of God filling every area of our lives.

Jesus is returning very soon and the Lord is daily preparing His bride for His return.  Those who respond and follow the leading and promptings of the Holy Spirit shall be prepared for the return of Jesus Christ for His church.  Those who sleep and slumber in this hour and ignore their relationship with Jesus Christ will weep and mourn when the trumpet sounds.

The hour draws near for the return of Jesus Christ.  The more time we spend in prayer and the study of God’s word the more our hearts and lives are transformed for the glory of God.  The Lord is calling us in this hour to be vessels of His power, glory, authority, and love.  This only happens as we draw near, abide, and follow the leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit.
