Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who by faith have testified to the truth of God’s absolute faithfulness], stripping off every unnecessary weight and the sin which so easily and cleverly entangles us, let us run with endurance and active persistence the race that is set before us,
There have been many who have come before us who have been faithful to the Lord and His kingdom. We live in a world that is filled with darkness and it seems that we are surrounded on every side by the enemy. But we must remember that He who is for us is greater than those who stand against us. Not only do the armies of Heaven stand with us and surround us, but the Lord Himself goes before us and prepares the way.
The enemy will always try to use fear to paralyze us. Fear is simply a lie and deception and is not based upon the truth. We have nothing to fear and we have not been given a Spirit of fear. It is the perfect love of God that drives out all fear and we must keep our hearts and our minds focused upon Jesus Christ. When our hearts are focused upon the Lord we will walk in perfect peace. It will not matter the trial or the storm that we face because we will view every circumstance of our lives in the light of who Jesus is.
We are called to run with endurance and active persistence. The Christian journey can be difficult and challenging at times. But the key is learning to walk and operate our lives in the strength and mighty of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit has not only been given to us to lead and guide us into all truth, but the Holy Spirit is our helper and our Paraclete. He comes along side us and many times when we want to operate in our own strength and power because of pride He will stand back and allow us to come to the end of ourselves. It isn’t until we fully humble ourselves before the Lord that we will begin to walk in the power and might of the Holy Spirit.
