18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. 19 For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; 21 because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. 23 Not only that, but we also who have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body. 24 For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees?25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.
26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us[b] with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. 29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. Romans 8:18-30.
Suffering is a natural part of the Christian journey. The Lord uses the suffering and trials we face in this life to refine us and mature us. Through the trials we face we learn to stand upon God’s word and not walk by sight or what we can feel. On this earth we wait in expectation at the return of Jesus for the church. We are born again when we place our faith and trust in Jesus Christ, but it won’t be until we go home to be with the Lord that our bodies will be redeemed and renewed. When we walk with the Lord in His kingdom we will have a physical body as we do now, but it will be a body of perfection that will not be able to be corrupted.
The Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness because our understanding is limited. For when we pray with our understanding we only pray according to what we know with our limited understanding. But when we pray in the spirit we pray according to the utterance given by the Holy Spirit and we pray all things according to the perfect will of God. We pray forth mysteries of things that we cannot understand with our physical mind, but which is possible because it is a supernatural work of the Holy Spirit.
The Lord works all things together for our good. It doesn’t matter what suffering we presently face upon the earth, the Lord will use it for our good and His glory. The major difference between those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ and those who have not is that those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ have the hand of God upon their life directing every step.
Every person the Lord has chosen He foreknew before the foundations of the earth. None of us are on this earth by accident and our lives are not just a bunch of random events. Everything in our life is designed and orchestrated by God to bring us where we need to go because we have been chosen by Him. He knows every mistake we will make in our lives but His desire is that we would be brought to a place of maturity where mistakes no longer dominate our lives. As we grow in Christ we should no longer be walking according to the desires of the flesh, but we should be walking according to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus is coming soon and we who are on the earth at this time in history have been placed here to display His glory and see the harvest brought forth. All of us have gifts and anointings that are unique to the calling that God has placed upon our lives. The Lord is calling us to draw near with all our heart and to be transformed into His image.
