Luke 11:9-13: It will be given to you

“So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 11 If a son asks for bread[d] from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”  Luke 11:9-13.

We are called to ask, seek, and knock.  When we examine this the Lord is calling us to continually come before the throne of God and never relent until we see what we are praying for manifest before us.  Prayer is not a one time event and everything we pray must align with God’s will.  The Lord will not move contrary to His will, so we must pray all things in accordance with His will and this only happens as we develop deep intimacy with the Lord.

His desire is that we would move beyond a very superficial relationship with Him and that we would simply seek Him with our whole heart.  He desires to move in our day and He desires to move in our midst, but He is waiting for those who will be found faithful to simply cry out to Him.

We can never relent in the place of prayer due to discouragement or doubt.  Of course the enemy will come to us and lie to us and tell us that nothing is happening, that God is not listening.  But the truth is that our Father in Heaven not only hears us but moves mightily at the prayers of His people.  Not only that but Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father living to intercede.  When we become people of diligent prayer we reflect the character and nature of Jesus in the greatest way.  The one word that could describe Jesus when He walked the earth was intercessor.  Everything He did was built in the place of prayer and was manifested in the natural.  Let us never relent, let us never give up, but let us go boldly and with confidence and fill the throne of Heaven with prayers that touch the heart of our Heavenly Father.
