Romans 5:1-5: Having been justified by faith

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.  Romans 5:1-5.

We have simply been justified by faith in Jesus Christ.  Jesus has paid the ultimate price so that we could be free and once again walk in an intimate relationship with God.  Jesus came to this earth for the express purpose of laying down His life.  It was His choice and He made the choice because of His love for us.  For we have been created in His image and it was only through the cross that we can find freedom from the curse of sin and death.

But an important part of the Christian journey is the tribulations that we will face.  It is through the tribulations that we face that perseverance, character, and hope is developed within us.  Through every tribulation as we stand upon God’s word and trust the Lord in all things we come to a place of maturity.  As we trust Him every step of the way it is Him who strengthens us to walk in victory.  We must keep our eyes daily upon Jesus Christ and know that no matter what we face the Lord will never leave us nor forsake us.  He loves us with an everlasting love and His desire is that we would simply rest in His love and rest in His finished work.  Let us grow each day in Him and come to a place of deep maturity with the Lord.
