Luke 18:1-8: That men always ought to pray and not lose heart

Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart, saying: “There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God nor regard man. Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, ‘Get justice for me from my adversary.’ And he would not for a while; but afterward he said within himself, ‘Though I do not fear God nor regard man, yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.’”

Then the Lord said, “Hear what the unjust judge said. And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”  Luke 18:1-8

The parable that Jesus teaches is about the importance of being persistent and persevering in the place of prayer.  The enemy will try to bombard us with doubt and discouragement as we press into the place of prayer.  Because prayer is the vehicle and avenue in which the power of the Holy Spirit is poured out upon the earth.

In this parable Jesus demonstrates how there is a distinct relationship between persistence and seeing our answer in prayer.  We are called to pray all things according to God’s will and in the name of Jesus.  The way we come to pray prayers that align with God’s will is by developing deep intimacy with the Lord as we spend time in His word.  As we spend time in His word our hearts and our minds are aligned with His and as a result our prayers become aligned with His heart.

When God finds someone who seeks Him with all of their heart, soul, mind, and strength and they are simply faithful and willing to pray, He will reveal the deep things of His heart with them and His kingdom.  He does this because He knows they will be faithful to pray forth His will upon the earth.  Their is a direct relationship with God’s will being accomplished and faithful people of prayer.  God searches the earth for those who would give Him their whole heart and when He finds them, He moves mightily in their lives.

Let us never relent in the place of prayer.  Just because we don’t see things happening right away in the natural, know that God is doing a deep work in our hearts as we seek Him in prayer.  He is moving upon the hearts of those who are involved in the direction we are praying.  God never forces His way into a person’s life, but He quietly draws them to continue to go deeper and in the process continues to soften their heart to a greater measure.  Never give up, never give up, never give up.  Continue to seek and go to the place of prayer.  In God’s due time you will see your victory manifest in the natural.
