12 “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. 13 You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. 14 Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it! John 14:12-14
It is amazing that Jesus said that we would not only do the same things He did, but we would do even greater things. The question is how is this possible because Jesus is the Son of God. How could mere human beings be able to not only do the same things He did upon the earth, but do even greater things?
The answer is found in the power of the Holy Spirit. Everything that Jesus accomplished while on the earth was done through the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus walked in obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit and His life was built upon the foundation of deep prayer.
John the baptist stated that he came to baptize with water, but after him would come one who would baptize with the Holy Spirit. It is through the fullness of the Holy Spirit that we are able to move in the power of God’s kingdom. Moving in the power of God’s kingdom is not meant to make a name for ourselves, but to glorify and magnify the name of Jesus. Every time the power of the Holy Spirit is poured out it should be done with the express purpose of drawing people to Jesus Christ.
We must seek the Lord with our whole heart and simply open our hearts to all that He desires to do. We need to lay our fears before Him and simply say yes to the Holy Spirit. We need to stop trying to be in control of all things and simply become obedient servants of the Lord.
God will glorify His name in all the earth throughout this time in history. He will use those who are hungry and those who are willing to say yes. Let us develop deep prayer lives with the Lord. Spending our time praying in the Spirit and our understanding. Let us be open to move in the gifts of the Spirit as the Holy Spirit moves on our hearts. It is no longer we who live, but it is Christ living through us and operating through us. Hold fast to the Lord and allow Him to use your life as a vessel of His glory.
