My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.
We are called to love in deed and truth. Actions speak louder than words. To simply tell someone you love them without action is meaningless. To claim to follow Christ but not be driven by His love is a fallacy. Jesus said that people would know His disciples by their love. If we are truly follow Jesus Christ and abiding in the Lord each day, then His love for others and for Him should be the driving factor in our lives.
Christianity without love is empty and it is ugly. For many years many churches have been driven by religion instead of being led by the Holy Spirit. If we truly desire to be the people God has called us to be then we must be led by the Holy Spirit in all things. When we are guided by the Holy Spirit and we walk in obedience to the Holy Spirit, the love of Jesus is a natural part of our lives.
It is God’s love and grace that lead us to repentance. Sharing the truth of God’s word without the love of God is appalling. It is God’s love that softens the heart and it is God’s love that opens the heart. May we simply be a people who are filled with the love of Jesus. May we simply love the Lord with our whole heart and may we simply love our neighbor as our self.
