Revelation 5:8-14:Now when He had taken the scroll

Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song, saying:

“You are worthy to take the scroll,
And to open its seals;
For You were slain,
And have redeemed us to God by Your blood
Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,
10 And have made us[d] kings[e] and priests to our God;
And we[f] shall reign on the earth.”

11 Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands, 12 saying with a loud voice:

“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
To receive power and riches and wisdom,
And strength and honor and glory and blessing!”

13 And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying:

“Blessing and honor and glory and power
Be to Him who sits on the throne,
And to the Lamb, forever and ever!”[g]

14 Then the four living creatures said, “Amen!” And the twenty-four[h] elders fell down and worshiped Him who lives forever and ever. Revelation 5:8-14.

Jesus takes the scroll from the hand of the Father and immediately begins to receive praise and honor from the four living creatures and the twenty four elders.  All of this is representative of creation and God’s people giving praise unto the Lord.  It is Jesus alone who is worthy to carry out the judgments of the Father upon the earth and break the seals because He alone was the only one who was able to go to Calvary.  It is because of His sacrifice and His choice to lay down His life that we are free and declared righteous before the Father.

The worship song unto the Lord speaks of redeeming us and making us priest and kings in His kingdom.  None of us deserve salvation.  It is simply by the grace of God.  Before anyone can come to know Jesus Christ they must be drawn by the Holy Spirit.  So this means that we don’t initially choose the Lord first, He chooses us.  When ever the Lord chooses anyone He always examines the heart.  When we understand this truth we will walk in humility all of our lives.

This is truly an awesome scene that John is seeing in that He not only sees the twenty four elders and the living creatures, but also the angels of Heaven.  We are told that they number ten thousand times ten thousands and thousands of thousands.  The bottom line is that this number is astounding and this scene is incredible.  Many times we get focused on the enemy because of all the negative and dark things in the world and believe that he is truly powerful.  But the honest truth is that Satan is nothing next to the Living God.  He is only allowed to do what is to take place according to God’s will.  Satan is nothing more than a dog on a leash.

It says that every creature that is above the earth, on the earth, and under the earth all came together to worship Jesus Christ.  It will be a magnificent scene someday when we live and reign with the Lord in His kingdom.  We will spend our lives in eternity worshiping the Lord and spending time in His presence and being able to see Him face to face.  We will have brand new bodies and it will be beyond anything that we can even imagine.  Let us prepare our hearts diligently as His return is very soon.
